Has anybody seen the see through float bowl plugs like the newer carbs have been coming with. I would like to get a set for my 750. Thanks for your input.

Yes, I have them on my 850. If you get them check them now and again, they get brittle and break. Orange County Speed in Fullerton has them by AED. Nice for tuning.

Summit has them:

I don't like them because when I needed to remove them, they cracked off and I had to drill them out to extract them....
They get brittle and it's just something else made out of cheap plastic that could potentially leave you stranded.

*they do look cool as hell though wink

DON'T use the plastic Moroso ones. They get brittle and break off and spew fuel all over the freaking boat! Happened to me and I was REALLY lucky a friend of mine was in the back seat and saw the fuel or I would have been toast. I switched my carbs back to the screws. I think Holly makes a metal one with a sight glass though.

Yes they can be very brittle. When you install them, don't plan on removing them, otherwise plan to install a new set. Because they will break!
When I send people their new carbs I supply them with the metal ones as well just in case this happens.
Moroso, Holley, Mr.Gasket....they are all brittle. Just don't tighten them so tight when installing and make sure to chase the old threads before putting them in also, this will prevent galling, which will break these puppies.
Nuff said.

Use them to set the float level and then take them out. Last a long time.

Just keep in mind that the plastic sight plugs are not USCG rated equipment. In the event of a fire, the plugs will melt and supply raw fuel - not a good thing

In the event of a fire, the plugs will melt and supply raw fuel - not a good thingIf your having a fire that gets that hot, then those clear sights are the least of your worries. IE fuel lines, vents in the carbs that often just vent fuel vapor, boat interior, etc.
They might not be USCG approved, but I wouldn't worry about fire risk, just breaking. Like it was said, check the fuel, then put the metal ones back in.
