How much torque could one build in a 383 that is resonable? Normally aspirated. I have twins that build around 400 prop lbs of torque. What kind of parts would I need? Thanks

Nickerson Holly
RPM Airgap Edelbrock intake port matched
Crane gold 1.5 roller rockers
Ultradyne cam #284H10
Trick Flo twisted wedge heads with bronze valve guides
Keith Black hyperutectic pistons for 383 10-3 to 1 compression ratio
Good rods and crank
Ballance rotating assembly
Clevite H series bearings
Have block zero decked,align honed
Dyno sheet says....462lbs of torque at 4500 to 5000 rpm
468 horsepower at 5500 rpm
471 horses at 6000 rpm
Must use total dry exhaust system(no cooling water mixing with the exhaust)to prevent reversion with this cam.
Hope this helps you out. Bum

hi sslems, sounds like you have a good thing going ecspecially with the marine reversion thing. (water in the hole) you can enhance your lift of the cam by backing off your duration by .06 and installing a 1.6 roller rocker it will open quick and close quick with the "same" as advertised duration only less chance of sucking water ( but watch the overlap) as far as bronze guides are concerned have seen them with tight tolerences snatch valves in the open and its time to rebuild. steel valve guides have the same expansion rate as steel, bronze or any other exotic combo has a the same effect.
