I will be launching out of Cottonwood and want to head up north towards the dam. I have kids and really need a nice sandy clean beach for the kids to play on. So can anyone make a good recommedation to me?

There are many of them up that way.
Most are 4-5 miles north of Cottonwood just after the lake makes a fairly sharp turn to the right.

What he said, after ithe little basin the river makes a right turn, there are some nice beaches on the right side. also if you go to mile marker 30 and hug the left side, there is a nice sandy beach there that we stayed at for the 4th of july. You will love it there!
