Moto E815...strong stand-by and talk time. I know many feel the Star Tach was the King of the hill for sometime. Could Moto be making a come back with this model?
VS
LG 8100...? I know LG's a respected name also.
Looking for strong signal reception/performance as well as durability, as I hold on to my phones for sometime.
Any feedback...?

You're right, the Star Tach was king, however which ever phone you chose make sure it has the old tri-band technology. We still have a bunch of the old analog towers here in the mountains and tri-band will let you take advantage of those. Good Luck

Actually neither phone it tri-mode :frown: .
I was to belive Verizon will be all digital in 07.
My current LG is tri-mode. For a short time I had the LG/6100 (tri-mode) but the thing felt cheap as if it wouldn't last.
thanks for the feedback.

Verizon hasn't built a site with analog technology for the last few years. All new site CX is digital only. The only reason they still support the analog system has to do with contracted requirements for service to the GM OnStar system. VzW is indeed working to convert any remaining sites with analog to digital. The analog stuff has greater range so in mountainous areas they will need to add more digital sites.
Go with the Moto phone. They have higher front end sensitivity over any of the LG's offered. This means fewer if any dropped calls (handest related) and better signal strength.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Long live the star tac... I've still got mine after almost 4 years...
Verizon has good service, but lousy phones IMHO. One of these days, I'll have to get a new phone, I hope they pick up some decent phones by then.

Remember guys and gals, just because Verizon is going all digital (yeah right) by 07' your phone will still be using the towers that belong to other providers when roaming. Although new plans allow nationwide calling without roaming, Verizon has or at least had 0 towers in Oklahoma, meaning to you and me that we used somebody else's towers to complete our calls. If you go all digital and you travel, you will become extremely frustrated when your "new" phone stops working and your buddy just laughs when you ask to borrow his "old" phone.

I have the Motorola E815...I upgraded from the Motorola V710. The camera is greatly improved from the v710. I like Motorola because of the transflash card...plus the phone itself has 40megs of memory. The accessories are interchangable between many other models and are easier to find. The only drawback is that you cannot save music to the phone (upload from transflash to phone memory) like v710. But, I do recommend the E815. Good luck!

Good point, as my old/current plan allows me to use other towers (roaming) without ANY roaming costs!
Verizon will give me just about anything trying to get me back in a contract...I kinda like the fact I can dump (them) at any time.
PS. friskyfrisker...thanks for the phone feedback.

They are usually a little behind the times in phones becuase they test all new phones for a period of about 6 months out in the field before they release to the market. Executives in each region will have the phones first, since they each use over 5000 minutes a month, and "test" how they work and hold up. Reports are filed within the company and the decisiion is made to bring it to their customers or not.
