I'm wondering how much it would help get my boat on plane by adding trim tabs.

I dont have em, but I heard they help out alot. Supossedly you will lose some top end speed. Call the guys at the Fontana shop.

My brother in law has a 28' magic deck boat. He's got 'em and he swears by them. They really help the boat come outta the hole and on plane.

I have the dana HP-1000s on my 28 V. They work great when I have 4+ people in the boat. Night and day difference getting on plane. Also when the water is rough you can drop them and it will keep the bow from slapping the water and smooth out the ride. If you have too much weigh on one side they can be used to level out the boat also when underway.
I don't know how they would cause you to loose any top end. Mine don't because if you're on plane and the water is clean you should have them up anyway. You don't wanna do speed runs with the tabs down.
