Ive been sanding on this thing for what seems like forever. I have a few projects to finish along the way, so I mix it up and get to them when sanding bores me. I set my pump back a little over 4 inches. Its as far back as can go without the intake busting through the transom.
All was going good until I realized that the points where the hand hole cover bolts attach to, break the plane of the transom and therefor mess with my plate design(prevents the plate from sitting flush on transom). You can see the issue if you look closely in the first pic.

and a pic of the template I made. Amazingly the template fits both sides perfectly.

somewhere i have pics of the 3-piece TA plates i made for my Rogers. The third piece had a half moon shape and two side flages that bolted to the back of the side plates. Advantage of this is that the handhole cover could be removed from the outside of the boat. i'll look for the pics. you could easily use the plates you've already made and just add this feature after you trimmed out the area above the handhole cover.

Sorry for such a big pic but it shows up better this way.
I think this is what cyclone is talking about?? This is mine while i was building it. The back plate goes all the way around the transom hole with the cut out just large enough for the pump to fit in.above and behind the hand hole cover is cut out large enough to remove the cover then a 1/2 circle (kind of held in that pic by tape) is bent around the cover and welded on with a top and bottom (bottom tight to the pump, top and sides tight to the plate) Then the 2 side plates go on tight to the sides up to the bottom of the handhole cover and under the pump.

This way you can remove your cover on the water if need be, and to pull the pump just pull the 2 sides and the pump comes out.
I can' not remember who but someone on the boards sent me the pics of his that I used and I think Jack at MPD uses this design also.
