Looking for help on adjusting the throw on a velvet drive. I was not happy with how far forward I had to move the throttle before it kicked into gear. So I adjusted it and it kicks into forward perfect now, but it starts applying to much gas before it kicks into reverse which basically eliminated the use of reverse for me as I did not want to burn up the trans. Any suggestions?
Also, I have been playing with the choke trying to get the boat to fire right away after it has been running a while and then I shut it off. It seems to need to be turned over for about 5 seconds before it fires. The carb was just rebuilt, but it is the original choke.
Any help is appreciated.

Hey man, how was the river? Run into any of the old crew? I'm not too familiar with that trans but it sounds like your problem would be solved if you attached the cable at a lower point on the arm that engages forward and reverse. That way the arm would travel further in both directions.

Kings was great - first run of the morning on Saturday was around 8:30 am had glass from Royal Oak to Riverland and back.
I tried mounting the linkage lower, but then it binds of the cable as you accelerate. I have checked all the angles and everything looks OK - I think that lower mounting point is too low and does not provide enough movement as the throttle cable needs.
Saw a few of the old regulars - some are still monthly at Riverland - everybody else was at Lindys.
I guess I will keep playing with it until i get the right combo - just did not feel like working on it at the river - the current was so strong - I drove it like a v-drive just using the current for resistance.
Did you sell the Hondo? My dad is thinking about unloading the Kurtis.

Yeah we sold the Hondo, and we are using the money to build a new motor for the Cole which should be done in a couple weeks.
How was everyone doing? I saw Ryan, Shelly and Kevin McKlain at Needles this weekend. Kevin bought a 25' Shockwave and has been using it every weekend.

Where did you stay out there? I was looking at a place in Rio Buena Vista where Tony and Jack both bought places. It has river access and is on a golf course - turn key place.

I stayed with Ryan and Shelly at their friend's place in Neilson's, I agree though Rio Buean Vista is great.

I have not seen it in person, just pics. Seems like it could be fun with the river, casinos up the road, golf and people you know in the community.
Not sure if I want to spend that kind of dough unless I can talk the wifey into going every other week or so to make it worth the expense. Otherwise just rent it out I guess.

you may have to go to a cable that has a shorter stroke----they make 2 different lengths stroke
