hey ford guys, i have a question that i need some input, i know its not a boat question but need help anyway, i have an f-250 i bought in 1999, it's
(93-model yr) truck today has 51k orig miles, 460 efi, compleatly stock.
was thinking about doing something with exhaust (maybe dual )
and new k/n filter, will this help with gas miliage, or is this a myth with the 460 engine, that i am only going to get 10mpg no matter what i do,
any suggestions would help.
thanks ford guys.

I've got a 1997 with a 460 in it and i've done the exaust and K&N filter on it with no real power gain or MPG gain, but it does sound alot better.

I have a '91 F250 4x4 Super cab with just about 470K on it. I did everything I could; hotter coil, good wires, K&N FIPK, removed the Cat, larger single exhaust pipe (3" to muffler & 3.5" out), have tried 5 different mufflers, my best overall gains, FlowMaster 3 chamber. My best to date as far as milage was 16mpg. On my recent trip, 1500miles I averaged 11.6. Now that included towing and traffic on the 205 (2hrs each way). I do run super 91oct.

go with the FIPK, the drop in filter doesnt do much. i have one of the drop ins if you decide to go that way, its just sitting in my stock air box that i will never use.

Fuel Injection Performance Kit (K&N FIPK)

if the 460 is the same as the small block trucks, and i think it is. you can make the FIPK for less than half what KN wants for it. just get the replacement filter from the kit and a couple pieces of 3" pipe and build a bracket. done. as for the exhaust, doesnt banks make a kit with full length headers? it would probably be legal in CA.

single exhaust works better for fuel economy !!
