If you damaged another person's property, that would be vandalism per the California Penal Code - 594 PC. It can be a Misdemeanor or Felony depending on whether or not it was greater or less than $400.00. Would be a good hook if you as the victim could show the dollar amount on the spot. Impound the boat for evidence and off to the poky with the bad guy.
