when my boat is idling its turning radius is much worse with the diverter in the up position then it is when its pointed straight or down? sometimes i forget the diverter is pointed slightly up when i come into a cove and once the boat settles into an idle it doesnt turn very well. as soon as i point the nozzle straight forward or down the boat turns just fine. weird.

My guess would be w/ the nozzle up your pushing more of the boat in the water and creating more resistance to move.

Whats that theory, "For ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction" So when your shooting the water up its not pushing against as much water as when its straight or down.  Just guessing but maybe.

Right but i think it also pushes the bow down. so theres more boat in the water. I may be wrong wouldnt be the first time

My boat backs up alot better with the diverter all the way down, hardly any reverse in the up possition.

Pushing the bow down probably would give more surface area for the water to bite and cause it to turn better. :)

isn't it about the angle of the bend point? more leverage at even then in up position?

My guess is that it's a combination of the two. Leverage and more of the bow in the water.

Right but doesnt the leverage pick the boat up out fo the water??

Its according to which side of the fulcrum you are on and which direction you are applying force  :mix:

I believe it's because water does not compress, therefor if the nozzle is down it's water pushing against water. more thrust. The same as being on a skateboard with a firehose pointed at a block wall. If the hose points to the air, air compresses, therefor not as much thrust. Put that in your stack and swivel! Budlight :D

Not home yet ... still celebrating Dad's marriage in Vegas (since Monday) ... should be back and sober by Tues. or Wed.
I feel out of touch ... but tubing has a whole different meaning at the MGM Grand & Mandalay Bay! Pics to come soon!
