I finally got to snap some pictures of the underside of my boat today. Take a look at these photos and see what you think:

I have been planning on fabricating a ride plate, but haven't gotten to it yet. The boat runs pretty wet - but it is a very heavy boat with the fuel tank in the bow. So, what do you think? Any suggestions?
Right now turning a Berk A 4500rpms and running 51mph on gps.
Oh, and here is a video of it running with the jetovator just slightly up:

Thanks!

not sure, but that looks like a delta pad, need a bigger pic. Is the area in front of the pump intake a flat triangle shape? If so, that is not the best bottom for top speed performance. Plenty of boats with them go fast, you just need to decide what your goals are with the boat and plan accordingly. My boat had one and I had it removed- with the same area now being a gentle bubble shape just ahead of the intake, which serves to load the pump harder. if you do infact have the delta, Ill let you know of some other issues I came across... :shift:

shouldn't the bowl plugs be on top so you can fill it with oil?

Thats what I was thinking.

does it hold your beer and friends and go from point a to point b ? If so, and if you are not a racer, I would leave it be, it looks like a perfectly functioning jetboat to me !

Sure does look like someone installed the bowl upside down.

Probably a c-bowl with a jet-a-vator (need to spin the bowl 90 degrees to make a vator work on a C)

Looks like a schiada? Thats more of a v-drive boat than a jet, but the intake install looks decent, looks like the angle might be a little radical and I cant tell if the screw heads have been filled over with epoxy or not..You can see the keel is in a v-shape, if you want to get the most out of that you need to re-shape the entry right in front of the intake. What you do is grind that v down into a rounded shape like the intake (alum part) has.Start about 8-12 inches ahead of the intake and slowly/gradually blend into that shape of the intake (from a v to a rounded shape)
Dont expect to set records with that boat, it appears to have no lift strakes, like i said its a v-drive hull, in that application it gets some lift from the prop.
I could be wrong on all this, but from your crappy pics, thats what i can see.

The trailer was in the way of about every angle I wanted to take. Made it very hard to get pictures of it. Anyway, it's a 17' Century hull that was sold in 3 configurations - jet, V, and I/O. I actually have the identical boat (hull numbers are 9 boats apart) with a ford 302 mercruiser I/O as a parts boat. I am not looking for an ultra fast race boat - but if someone were to come up with a simple suggestion that was good for a couple of MPH it worth trying...
Yes, it is a Berk C bowl and I rotated it 90 degrees to install a jetovator.
The keel does have a triangle/delta shape, but the triangle is about 4 feet long from where the keel starts to widen to the intake.

It's a 12-jc??? I have one and the bowl is on the right way with a manual place diverter.

Place diverter being the key phrase. With a Berkeley jet-o-vater you have to rotate a non split bowl to install it.
CS - I don't think you'd call this a delta pad either.

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like the leading edge of the intake adapter is sitting below the keel line. That might cause a little turbulence for water entering the intake. If you run your finger along the keel from a couple inches before the intake, to the opening of the intake, and your finger snags on that edge, think of what some water will do at 40,50,60 mph.
On the bright side, the bottom of the boat looks to be in good shape.

Based on what you are describing, that is a delta pad. Sounds like it looks like mine did-first pic is after intake set back, jeff started filling the void left over...
