A buddy of mine bought ColeTr2's old boat and is droping a 392 Hemi in it. It will be about 500hp. The question is where do you think the motor should sit. Cole had his set up at 35"s from the transom, this motor will make less hp and will weigh more.

Most Coles I have seen are 32 to 35 inches. Why not start where it is now and see how the boat does. Every boat is different...even between same models.

Mount the motor were it was before, if it doesn't handle right it's easy to step up the motor!! Just put a bigger blower on it!! :) :)

Thats our main concern and the fact that it will have about 300-400hp less than when Cole TR2 had it. What do you think about starting at 33 inches

dont drill any holes if you dont have too,,,but ya maybe move back a little, but try it first where it is..maybe you can make it up with the prop location....hemi's combustion chambers LOVE...nos.....

Just some thing to think about. I have a 392 makeing 1000hp on Nos and I run with the BBC all day long. If you want to ask any questions just call. You can check out my engine on Dragboatcity under parts. I think you'll enjoy it...Mike

Ditto here, if its heavier, why move it back, wouldn't that make it work harder to get set? more weight on the prop?

If the nose wants to stay over then move it back. If it carries the nose too high then move it forward. But prop shaft location and a lot things all go into how the boat holds itself. Since you got existing motor mount holes and an existing driveline...I'd start where it is.

Put the motor in where it was with the right gear and prop combo for the power you have and try it and go from there, you may be surprised of the outcome. If you do changes before you try it and it don't work, you won't know if the changes you made caused it not to work or not, then you'll really be pulling your hair out trying to figure what's wrong. Theories always look good on paper but don't always apply, been there done that!..

The Hemi is longer and heavyer. If the V-drive is at 96", go 35" to the back end of the timing cover. If the V-drive is at 98", go 33". You can then 'trim' the propshaft as needed. Keep the gears and come off of the diameter, that way it will 'slip on the bottom', and 'fly on the top end'. You can do it!

V-Drive is measured from the mid plate to the transom.
