Speed Demon says more timing, sounds like alot

Barry Grant/ Speed Demon tech dept. Says with the 650 Speed Demons w/vacuum secondaries. I need to be bumping my timing up on my 302's up to about 36 deg at WOT. (they said with the colder water and running temperatures through the motor and all the fuel, all should be wonderfull.......Holy crap that seems like alot since I always heard it was to be about 28-30 with the holley carbs. Anyone run into the same thing? How much is to much?

Don't know where you heard 28-30...but that's not enough timing. Timing above 36 degrees you better have good fuel. Small inch motors generally like timing.

there's alot more to it than who's carb your running as any of them can be jetted any way you want. GO for the extra timing! and see how it work's!

Yes, 28 to 30 just isn't enough. 34 to 36 should be both better and safe.

Carbs don't have anything to do with timing, 34 to 38 max on a Ford depending on compression and fuel!..
