What was the price tag on the new gears? Are you installing them yourself? Or what are you getting quoted for labor?

the gears with gasket set, freight, tax was $900.00
Prime Marine quoted me $400 to install, if I pull the v-drive and take it to them.
This boat rebuild is putting me in the poor house!! Anyone interested in a custom built chopper FOR CHEAP!!! :hammerhea

Yeah Art there actually might be. I decided to go with Demon tunnel ram carbs, so I have a holley #4781 850 carb in good condition was rebuilt 2 years ago $130.00 if interested :coffeycup

Damn!!! $1300 just for gears. The labor doesn't sound to far out of line but the gears are outragious. The complete upper gear set for an OMC King Cobra was only $500 and thats 3 spider gears with all the extra machining for the cone clutch shifter.

When I Did Mine I Shopped And Got 300 Dollar Gears -- Tried To Swap Out Myself - And Five Weekends Of Frustration - Sent It Off To Wilkes -- Along With 600 Bucks Lol :d
