We're boating over Fri Morn & hangn till Sunday morn. Cruise to 2 harbors on Sat. Anyone wanna get salty?

I am jealous. I haven't been over in about a year. I spent 3 years over there as the paramedic on the rescue boat in Avalon. I lived half my life on the island (the days I worked) and the other half in El Segundo (my days off). It was fun. I switched departments about 7 months ago. I left LA Co. Fire and now work for Orange Co. Fire. The girlfriend and I are talking about a trip next month once I finish my 6 month testing coming up in 4 weeks. I still know so many people there. Have fun and my suggestion is to get out there for the weekend as early as possible. This time of year Avalon Harbors moorings (inside the harbor at least) will be full by Fri. am. You will get stuck in West Harbor or Hamilton Cove.
Have fun and let me know how the crossing was. You are pretty much sure to have a smooth ride in the morning before noon. The wind will pick up in the early afternoon and make it a little bumpy.

Water was frikin unreal, 8am Friday run over from Marina Del Ray 55-65 mph the whole way, almost glassy, small swells. Ride back Sunday @ 10 AM, little bumpy until about 10 miles from the island, but still could run on top of the 3 footers @ 60. Love my 30, man. School of about 200 dolphins right off RPV point. Drive fast, they jump fast, slow down they slow down- Very cool. You werent kidding about the mooring situation in summer. We had to side tie Fri until abouy 11 am, then got lucky. Sat morning got moved to Descanso, Which was cool cause we could swim to the boat from Descanso and get our FREE beer. Water was like the river. Awesome break from the 115 degree muggy ass heat and bathtub water in Havi this month.
