If I install a droop snoot on my 21 foot open bow jet (Carrera), is a ride shoe and plate really needed? I know they help on certain applications but I have had no issues "not" having one in the past. Thanks.

You may want to call Jack at MPD about that.
During a conversation I had with him, he indicated that there are some hulls that you don't want to air out too much.
In some cases a droop will help yet adding a ride plate would air it out too much and destabilize the boat. Not to mention the cost of having your shoe machined .
Some more informed people will definately chime in on this..
