Ignition questions on Race Aero twin turbo

Our new (to us) Schiada v-drive has a race aero twin turbo, it has a HEI ignition on it now. Will a MSD ignition, distributor, coil give a hotter spark and eliminate carboning up when idling?? We putted through the channel at Havasu and the engine loaded up pretty good. Follow up question, where can one get the best price on the MSD setup?? The engine is twin carbs not EFI.

I would say that your problem is way too rich a mixture rather than ignition.
Tweak on those idle mixture screws.
Maybe your float level is too high, fuel pressure regulator is not set right or a power valve is blown out.
I ran the HEI several years ago and it worked real well.
