I'm kinda late on this but thought I'd give it a try. I want to do the SCOPE run (short course) on Aug 27th but need a crew that has some experience with this. I have a seat or two that would be open if anyone is interested - must have own life jacket since the orange horseshoes are not allowed.
PM or email me if interested.
Since the reg fees are so steep, I'm willing to sell one of the poker hands to offset costs.

Did you already register? You should have no problem filling open seats in your boat. I know that my boat will be filled for the poker run. You might want to also post this on the SCOPE message board, www.scopeinfo.com
The registration fees are a little steep, but this is a 100% nonprofit event. As part of your registration you also get photos and negatives of your boat in action from a helicopter.

Damn, I'm your neighbor, have been in numerous Poker Runs all over the US, but that week I'll be at another event in OR (and I own my own Lifeline). Had to turn down another ride in the IMCO boat too. damn, damn, damn

I'll go, but you will want to do the long course. I did this Poker Run last year, it was fun. We did the Catalina to Newport & back to LB. I have a lifejacket & beer money. ;)
Late, Mike

I didn't get any pics of my boat last year either. The helicopters try to catch every boat in the run, but last year they missed a few. When you are at the drivers meeting, listen for instructions regarding the helicopter pics. They typically set up a staging area at the end of the breakwater where you can get the helicopter pictures taken if they miss you during the run. We're going to try to set it up this year to ensure that they don't miss any boats.
Also, make sure that your poker run numbers are clearly visible on your boat. A couple of years ago we had pictures of several boats who were not entered in the poker run. If the helicopter can't see your poker run numbers they will not take photos of your boat.

What is best to put the #'s on the boat with and where?

Steamin' Rice
08-10-2005, 06:16 PM
You will receive stick on poker run numbers with your poker run package that you will receive before the poker run. If you make it to the pre-meeting next week you can pick it up in person, or it will be shipped to you the week before the poker run. The numbers should be placed on the deck of your boat so that they are visible from above. There will be instructions that explain this in more detail

Can't wait!!! LHC30, you shouldn't have a problem out there. There are a lot of guys who frequent the ocean who say Havasu is rough. I took my 28 Eliminator Eagle from Oxnard to Santa Barbara the first day I picked it up. It was a smooth day but I honestly like the feel of the ocean over Havasu. I only wish I could keep my boat in So Cal so I could get out there more.
Look for me. I'm taking the long course but if you choose, we can hang together. Not that I am the most experienced, but I am careful. Can't afford to break.

EVENT FACT SHEET
WHAT: POKER PLAYING POWERBOAT OWNERS RAISE MONEY FOR THE TOOTHFAIRY IN LOS ANGELES
Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite (S.C.O.P.E) represents a group of offshore powerboat owners that not only know how to have fun, but make sure they act responsibly on the water. S.C.O.P.E. members are well known for their generosity and giving back to the community.
Every year S.C.O.P.E. designates a charity to receive proceeds from a variety of activities that take place at their annual “Poker Run” event including a live and silent auction. This year, S.C.O.P.E has again designated The Children’s Dental Center in Inglewood, CA as the recipient of fundraising activities at the event.
The Children’s Dental Center (TCDC) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1995 and provides integrative, holistic oral health treatment and vital prevention educational services for economically disadvantaged children ages 0-18 who are without insurance or severely underinsured. Involvement in this year’s S.C.O.P.E. event will help raise awareness and funding for The Children’s Dental Center and assist in our goal to QUADRUPLE the number of children that we will treat and increase TEN-FOLD the number of children that we will educate in the next 18 months!
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We are in need of silent auction items for this amazing event. Items desired would cater to this particular audience and include autographed “extreme sports” memorabilia, restaurant gift certificates, gift items for gift baskets, jewelry, “one of a kind” vacation opportunities, walk-ons and MORE!
WHEN: Saturday, August 27th 2005 – Items need to be at The Children’s Dental Center by Wednesday, August 24th.
WHERE: Long Beach, CA
Event is closed to the general public
