I finally heard the "pierced" speakers in Kilrtoys DCB this weekend and want more info on them but have no idea who makes them or who sells them. Does anyone have a manufacturer name or website for them? Thanks.

Transonic sales them; call the location in Upland/Montclair...they went over to China...basically took all the properties they liked about different speaker maker coax's....ie:bigger cone area (7"), cone properties that withstand outdoor conditions (Carbon Fiber), rubber grill surrounds (again marine necessities), and basically built a speaker for the marine market with great qualities from the best of the best...they have since made relationships with a lot of different manufactures and you see them in different California Customs....they are great speakers....and the sound is almost at the level with the MB Premium's...I have both Pierced and MB Prem's....

I used to go to Transonic "back in the days", are they the only place to get them? Kinda like a signature series?

Yes only place to get them. I am sure if you wanted to get some as a dealer, you might be able to work a deal, but some of the folks at Transonic went over seas with the intention of building the best marine coax and had one built to their specs, so although they might be two seperate companies; the same people are behind both companies.

That's funny in this thread I heard....They went to china to produce the BEST marine speaker. :D In reality they went to a speaker manufacturer and pick and chose parts out of a catalog. they did NOT engineer the speakers in any way and they only pay about $18 a pair. Then they turn around and sell them as "the best" when in reality the speakers are built using inferior compnonents......Give me a break. It's a cheap speaker that lends itself well to the marine environment becuaes of some of the components they chose to build them with such as rubber srurronds, non-paper cones etc...
We looked into doing the same thing its called "private labeling" the benefit to a retailer is they can sell the crap out of the brand get people to fall in love with the product then the customer hasd no where else to shop and get a better price. And 99% of customer have no idea they are reall buying crap.
For the money you pay there are MUCH better options out there. Do yourself a favor and shop around.

Lighten up Francis...sounds like your just pissed cause Al and Ed's did not do it first :)...I never said they engineered anything. Yes, they went a Manufacture, and if you are saying it is inferior cause they were in China wake up to the year 2005....side by side against my MB Quart Premiums they sound just as good. Also, so they cost $18 bucks to produce there....that is the reason they are produced there....cheaper cost of labor and manufacturing....I have had Pierced for two years with 1600 watts of Rockford Hotplates (another great American Made amp (yeah right)), and they still run like a champ... :D

Actually Al&Eds did do it first ;) Im not saying that becasue they are Chineese they are inferior, but go to CES and you will see all the "custom speaker mfgrs." all in line. You can order your "high Quality" speaker like you would a meal. Can I have a kevlar cone with a big magnet rubber surrounds and a side of chrome please. Side by side with the Quart premiums?? your kidding right? The cost is affected by many factors labor is only 1 of them.
Im not saying they are a terrible speaker, but saying they are the best...that is really stretching it. Running 1600 watts of power is probably the only thing keeping them going. Underpowering a speaker is FAR more damging then overpowering, but we all know that right ;)

but saying they are the best...that is really stretching it. ;)Ok, I am not sure if they are the best since I have not listened to every speaker made, but some of the best I have heard.:)....I wish I could have the MBQ 8 coax's they used to make but they are no longer.:) and as far joking against the MB's; no I am not; I have both and heard both...and have the Op6 stereo trophy with the Pierced to prove it... :) but to each their own...:) ;)

In his install yes they sound good, and he probably beat a lot of other higher priced speakers in process. They also sound pretty good in Shadow's install. I never said Kicker's sucked; not sure what you are implying....I actually had them in some Titan Tower Speakers....they sounded nice, but they were also no comparison in the tower setup vs. the NVS. :)

The same arguement can be made for or against Rockford Fosgate.....Bottom line is your gonna push gear based on whatever brands the shop stocks!

Actually listen to the Kicker coaxials compared to the other speakers in its price range. They are not the best sounding for the money. They do the job becasue of how LOUD the boat is but as far as actual sound quality they are very low on the list.

Give them a call.
The Eton speaker was the inspiration for Diamond Audio mobile stuff. The Diamond mid was almost the same with a few tweaks. Tweets were a bit different went to 4ohm instead of Eton's 8ohm. Diamond still uses the technology but doesn't offer the "7"" Hexacone, it's only available for the 6.5" and down. Diamond has a new "7" with different technolgoy, but they are pricey and I have yet to hear them.

I call it a success when I am seeing the Speakers in Lavey's, DCB's, Eliminator's, Cobra's and a couple of other boats I have come across....I am not comparing A&E's to Transonic as I can see A&E has varying service levels depending on the location...

I really like the diamond stuff; had a Diamond 12 in the Eliminator and had real good sound for the low power we were throwing at it at......I am upgrading the sub/power in the BU at the end of the season, and I am contemplating going with Diamond 15 D9 or the JL W7 13.6....your thoughts?

From being in the industry as long as I have I can tell you there is NO store with a perfect rep. In fact as an industry whole A&E has one of the better reps. for customer service
As far as succes because they are in certain boat builders boats...You forgot I was in the industry, they arent using htem becasue they are the best. There is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes to be used as a oem supplier for boat builders. Why do you think Eliminator used to get so pissed off when we would go pick a boat up from them in the rigging process??? (no kickback from the stereo shop)

To Bobaloo....go to Transonic and talk to them about them if you want more info you obviously felt they sounded good enough to open a thread about them......they are priced pretty reasonable when compared against the higher end stuff.

Good speaker but unnecessary if you use your boat in fresh water. If your boat only sees river/lake use take the same $$ you would spend and buy a better level of MB "car" speaker.

I know...go listen to them; I have heard the single W7 13.6 in a slot enclosure in a Tournament boat with 1000watts, and it hit like I could not believe....but getting the same setup with the D9 is kind of difficult... ;) ...don't know of anyone who has one...

I run 4 Diamond C4's (prototypes) in the 27' Advantage. They had me put them in there to test durability of them.
Without at least doubling the surface area of the the existing speaker, I doubt you will hear a signifigant difference. The next time I swing by the house we can look through the boat to some more air space and see if we can get a couple of more subs in that thing. Still don't know what can be done to keep up with the tower (that thing is obnoxiously loud).
