I just got back last night from a week of camping in the High Sierra's. I didn't want to come back! Here are some pics from our trip. We had a great time so I thought I would share.
Here is the truck all packed up before we left. There was no wasted space!

I left just enough room for Bud to stretch out. :)

Third night of heavy drinking and my cuz got "Junked" :D I can't post the other pics. lol
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00792.JPG What we realized later is we should have put the dogs shock collar on him and sent him to bed with his wife in the trailer. :220v: So we think he got off easy with pink finger nails and his wife's name tattooed on his neck in old english. :D
This is over at Virginia Lakes. I'm in the float tube in the middle of the pic.

On night 4 or 5 of drinking and playing hold'em what do you do to changed things up? Side bets like "I bet you won't snort a line of pringles"! I cut and lined it up, rolled up a C-note, and for just $6 and a lot of drinks got him to di it! LOL. We couldn't stop laughing!!!

This day we got up at 4am to hike into Kirman lake for some trophy brookies and cutthroat. It's 3 miles hike in so we packed up the kids' wagon with our float tubes, waders and fins and took turns pulling it. It was a bitch cuz there are some big hills!
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00866.JPG
Me at our destination.
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00871.JPG
Getting ready to go after the big ones. You have to use artificial lures here with barbless hooks. No live bait. It's a 2 fish limit and you can only keep anything over 16 inches. There isn't a lot of fishing pressure because of the hike in and with the restrictions there are some big fish in there.
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00872.JPG
Self portrait on the tube.
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00876.JPG
Here is my keeper. A 18.5 inch 2 1/4 lbs brook trout. Yes, I said brook trout. You usually catch them in streams as little 6 inch pan frying fish.

What had been perfect weather all week turned on us that Friday on the day of the 3 mile hike in. :2purples:
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00882.JPG
The thunder was rolling through the canyons and I told my cousin's plain and simple. We are f ucked!

http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00886.JPG
We were on the other side of the lake from where we put in and I decided to make a run for it. The temp dropped and it started pouring. The wind was blowing that direction so I let it help blow me back to the other side. I was only able to take a couple pics and here is one of them. I didn't want to screw up the camera.

This is what made the hike in worth it. (Deano, you should sponsor some extreme fishermen. ;))
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/1524DSC00892.JPG
The hike back wasn't so bad for me cuz I helped pull the wagon in so my part was done. This hill was a killer going up and just as hard going down. It was dragging my cousin. He didn't think it was that funny but for us who pulled it in it was. :)

I took about 200 pics but this will give you an idea of the good time we had!
I'll have to post one more later of me fly fishing for sleek-jet though! ;)

8 hours? Took me 5 1/2. :D I am the 3rd and my little cousins are the 4th generation of my family going there. When we were younger and started liking chicks that was the place to hook up! lol. We'd go hang out at the bridge or the basketball courts and sneak beers out of the camp.
Good times. :D

I need to get the kids out there.. i grew up going there... digging lil trenches around the tent to keep the rain out... it always rained on us when we were there.... bears diggin in the trash cans around camp..... is that resturant still there next to the baskeball courts? I know I used to love eating there.. then i'd go up to the store to get some ice cream and candy  ... damn I miss that place. Good times good times.

We just got back last month from Sonora Bridge Campground and fishing in the Walker River. Beautiful up there. Great fishing. And yes 5 1/2 hour drive not towing anything. Bre, maybe your dad was pulling a trailer or driving a motorhome? That would certainly take a couple hours longer.

We just got back from Mamouth on fri after being there for a week. Beautiful Brook's. Those are some of the biggest I have seen. We fished all the local streams for the stockers(rainbows) and also fished the Wild part of Hot Creek. Perfect weather, low crowds, we also had a great time. Good for you guys.

I thought about buying it a few times, the wife and I have gone on the internet looking at it saying what if? Then reality sets in, I grew up in the snow and in no way in hell am I going back to it. I've never had the Taquitos, I will try them next time through. BTW, have you gone a little further up 395 through the little town of Walker, Lake Toaz, a nice little lake, we use to go down there when I lived in Tahoe to play in Warm water... :D :D :D

You mean Topaz Lake? I have camped there also. When I was a kid camping with my grandparents one summer I learned how to drive there. I wanted to walk down to the lake and my grandpa told me to take the VW (baja bug). I had never driven a car let alone a stick and my grandpa told me what to do and went back to his drink. The first road I ever drove on was 395. :2purples: I made it down to the lake, checked it out, then decided to come back. Well I could get the damn thing in reverse. He failed to tell me that I had to puch down on the stick to get it in reverse. I tried pushing it backwards, but I was on a hill. I had to knock on some guys door to help me out. He asked me if it was the linkage and I told him I think it's me.
Good times. :D

Great Photos!! :D
I have done this same type of trip for 20 years…The Sierras are a completely different way of life.
Twin Lakes are beautiful! Convict has been my main place to camp for the last several years with annual trips up Sherwin Road (4x4 only), Rock Creek and of course, a trip to Bodie Ghost town is always a must! :D :D
As for some of you “non-fisher-peeps” there is a ton of stuff to do up in the Sierras as well.....
To name a few:
1) Hike
2) Go looking for Ghost Town
3) Visit Mono Lake (view the Tufa’s)
4) Sit in the Hot Springs in Hot Creek
5) Ride the ski lifts at Mammoth, all the way to the top (ele 13,000 ft) and have a picnic, the view is amazing
6) Go to Devils Postpile
7) Hike to Rainbow Falls
8) If in Bishop, visit “Falling Leaf” lake ( this is the lake in the movie “The Bodyguard” w/ Costner and Huston
9) While in Bishop, Visit Lake Sabrina and look for Ghost Towns.
10) Visit Carson City
11) Lake Tahoe is less than two hours away from Mammoth.
Of course, this is just a “tip of the iceberg” of things to do in the Sierras. :D

And you know this! I had to fire it up and throw a charger on the batteries. Let me tell you, it's a bitch to get a diesel started after the batteries are dead!!! We tried jumping it with a truck and that damn thing wimpered!
I told my cousins at least next year we need a golf cart or something.
:D
Maybe I'll just have 3DO come with me next year and drive his Rhino around again. :D

I hiked around with Buddy, or I just stayed back at camp with other peeps that were there. My favorite place was Virginia Lakes because Bud and I were able to play in the snow :) I couldn't believe how much snow was there.

He had a great time. Sometimes I wish I was him. No work, get fed (and not just dog food), take trips, humps whatever he wants and people laugh, no worries. Yeah, I do wish I was him. :D
