ob40,
I put the question to Mr. Jason T. Hill of NAMJ regarding the plastic wear ring. Below is his response in quotation marks to your question and my question regarding availability of different types of material for the 12WJ wear ring. I have also purchased Kit #1 and I am in the process of purchasing Kit #2 to rebuild the extra Jacuzzi unit that I have.
"Robert,
The plastic wear rings will wear instead of the aluminum impeller, leaving the outside clearance of the aluminum impeller pretty much a standard size. So when time to replace plastic wear ring there is one size, the original size.
The only time Jacuzzi used stainless wear ring were with stainless steel impellers for race boat set ups.
The #2 seal kit is $92.00 plus shipping.
NAMJ does not take PayPal.
Master Card or Visa.
Best regards,
Jason"
I still have to look in the technical manual to see if replacement recommendations are cited for the plastic wear ring. The manual is still available from NAMJ (see message below).
We do have a repair manual available for the 12wj. It is not the best manual, but it gets the message across.
Cost $12.50
Best regards,
Jason T. Hill
