I'm about to register my trailer in CA. DMV says they need to inspect the trailer. Any idea what they are looking for? My only guesses are:
Vin# and Mechanical Condition (lights/brakes/etc.)
Anything else so I'm not caught by surprise?
Thanks
Justin

Thats about it. Did you just buy it? If so, and its used, they will make you pay sales tax. Wait 90days if thats the case. 90 days and you're ok.

I've had it for a bit but there was some paperwork issues that have now been settled. I've actually already registered the trailer and paid the fees, just finding the time to bring it down for the inspection.
Thanks

VIN # & lights is the only think I need last time I did this.

Vin verification and the form I believe is a 238, look at the website. ANY Peace Officer in CA can do this verification, or take it to the DMV.

Yep, they just verify the VIN matches the title, and a possible on the gen. condition (operable safety equip (lights)). Unlikely to be much else. Only had 1 thing ever inspected here in Ks, motorcycle bought from Utah, all they did was look at the VIN to match the title VIN. Didn't even make me beep the horn.
