Hehe.. I was thinking the same thing Shawn, but unfortunatley It's not going to be a total. The frame does appear to be screwed up and I'm sure the tranny is history. It was pushed at least 20 feet.

My idiot ex-brother inlaw crashed my car into a power pole right after I married his idiot brother. It was totalled and after the insurance company fixed it, I noticed that they had used duct tape to fix some of the interior. (what assholes) Anyway, I got the last laugh because not only did they fix the car but i also recieved a check from the insurance company to cover my loss. I got paid twice. Good luck MissP, this can't be fun for you.

you can clearly see that the lexus went mostly under the truck. which proably lifted the truck and made it slide on 3 wheel . so oh i guess when pushing a truck the dent is ford tough. lets see it if that truck wason the street and brakes were abpplied. how ford tough that would be. make sure you charge the insurance company for cleanup in your driveway. (oil stains and such)

Ms. Perfect,
When you get the truck body work done, MAKE THEM check the frame for straightness. I bet it's tweaked. My toyota looked fine, but the frame was slightly bent when I got rear ended. Make very sure they check that. Also, if they find a crack in the frame, it might end up being a total. :D

It might be different in Cali (usually is) but your comprehensive should be covering the damage. The uninsured motorist covers medical bills that are incurred in a crash caused by someone without insurance. At least that's how it is in Arizona. ;) :D

most insurance companies try to steer you away from diminished value. it does take alot of time, and research but can be done. and can yeaild a couple thousand on newer cars, or classics. i have hade to deal with this on a classic took almost 8 months but was worth 4k. this sucks about your frame. but there are alot of shops out there that can fix it as good as new. just make sure you cant see the repairs, like welding. that hurts resale value. example 3 inch weld on front of frame near a arm. i would never buy. just make sure that the insurance company doesnt try a take a short cut.

most insurance companies try to steer you away from diminished value. it does take alot of time, and research but can be done. and can yeaild a couple thousand on newer cars, or classics. i have hade to deal with this on a classic took almost 8 months but was worth 4k. this sucks about your frame. but there are alot of shops out there that can fix it as good as new. just make sure you cant see the repairs, like welding. that hurts resale value. example 3 inch weld on front of frame near a arm. i would never buy. just make sure that the insurance company doesnt try a take a short cut.
I heard from the body shop last night. It is actually getting a whole new frame. Thanks for the tip on diminshed value, I'll look into it.

thats a little interesting. does that mean you need to take it to chp with the paperwork to get vin numbers on body and frame verified.id find out what the limits are for your insurance companies to claim it as totaledsome may be 75% to value. you may want to check into this. not all insurance companies do the 75 rule. but im sure this will be expensive. and your rental car proably only last 30 days. so prepare yourself for that.

it'll live again, someone will buy it at the auction, get the front off of a rearended lexus and sell it to a sucker as a salvaged "theft recovery"...
Wow, sounds like you are stereotyping people who repair salvaged vehicles...Sometimes cars being repaired under salvage title are just minor repairs. The problem is when the butcher get his piece of sh+@t hands on it. My wife drives an Excursion and I drive a F350 both salvaged and roll overs. The idea is if you were to be interested in a salvaged have a mechanic and a certified body shop inspect it.....
