I've got two - 1 in 12 and the other in 20 gauge. You can't go wrong. What's the barrel length? They come with Rem chokes which is really nice.
Anyone have a spot nearby to Parker for the opener they'd like to share? :rollside:

I was looking online and walmart may have them for under 550 bucks. We'll see.

I think those WM guns have the cheaper wood stocks...

Wallmart has them for 625.... Which barrel size should I get 23-28 or 30 inch?
They have the same gloss walnut stock as turners in the specs. Check it out and let me know.

Go to gunsamerica.com or gunbroker.com and get one. I'M sure they could be had cheaper. Get a 28" barrel. Good all around length.

Buy one second hand with cash. I think there is no need for big brother to know about it. :D

Not really knocking Remington, cause I have some, but...
If you're wanting a semi-auto 12, in my opinion there is only one way to go, Benelli SBE. I have one of the older ones (when they were still marked Heckler & Koch) and it will cycle essentially everything. I have shot everything through it from 3 1/2" down to very light target loads.
If you check around, you can find them used in the $700 - $800 range for black synthetic. Camo is gonna run you more.

Hard to find used. Everyone is selling the 870 experss pump. The 1187 is cheaper at turners or wallmart new than someones used thru gunsamerica + shipping + Gunbroker fee. Did you know wallmart can't sell guns in CA?

I assume you are thinking 20 guage. That said the 1187 / 20 comes with a 26 or 28 inck barrel only. Personally I would go 28 with a 7 1/2 or 8 shot. Both guns will hold 4 shells with a 3" chamber, The 28 is 2 1/4 inches longer (48 1/4 total length) and weighs 1/4 lb. more @ 7lbs. I like the hidden, easily interchangeable chokes that I believe come standard with all 1187's.

I was going to say something about this as well. I had a pump made by "Fabarm" that was marketed by H&K. I used that thing for entries and training a lot. Aluminum body, pseudo-carbon looking film over it for heat dispersion (big deal when you are shooting mag rounds for blowing door hinges and locks and then slinging it) and carbon fiber furniture. I loved it.
Absolutely the best shotgun I have ever fired. The thing cycled like a motorcycle shifting. "Snick, snick, snick..."

You better call them first and see if they even have guns. I didn't think the walmarts in Ca. sold firearms. Now back east is a different story.

The benelli is a nice gun BUT, I own one of each. The 1187 Rem. and the benelli SBE. I will take the rem. any day of the week and twice on sunday. Remington feels more comfortable and will shoot upside down. My SBE will not shoot upside down. If you duck hunt and you use a SBE you will know what I mean. Can't go wrong with the Remington. Been around for years, operates flawlessly, and is CHEAPER.

I'm set on the remington 1187. I probably will pick one up at a wallmart in Tucson. I have a home there. The nice thing about it is that I can get it over the counter and don't have to wait 10 days. Thanks for everyone input. Now we need to set up a HB quail hunt. TO THE HUNT!!!!!!!

OK. I saw the anaheim hills and thought you weren't. If you don't have an AZ. license they probably won't sell you the gun.

We hunt Chukar out around there. Most of my quail hunting is done in Frazier Park. We got an awesome spot there. Been good the last couple years.

I just sold my grandparents cabin up there. We used to hunt there mostly on day trips. We seemed to run across more squirlls than quail though. We used to go about a 1/2 mile west of pine mtn. and hit a dirt road to the south. When in Tucson I see quail everywhere. Their like pigions out there.

We usually go out to Gila Bend (AZ) and do great, but there's not a lot left to do after the first 15 minutes of each day and you're limited out... Last year we put all the plastic pool furni in and had the whole fine ASTRO Motel peeps out there with all all afternoon. Too hot for the dogs. Trying to find a spot nearby to Parker this year.
