Lets see, Saturday, Hemminway to Echo to Hallett Beach and back to Hemminway, Sunday, Hemminway to Big Sandy to Temple Bar back to Hemminway = 200 gal @ $4.00+ =$800+ - Priceless. And thats if I cruise at a conservative 60 all day. I sure hope gas prices don't go up! It won't be long before a fun filled week-end costs $1,000 plus food and beverage (and we don't even tow)

True, but look how far you went. Hemminway to Echo is a long drive. Is Hallet beach the same as mid-point? Then you went to Big Sandy the following day, I would have had to fill up at Temple bar on the way to Big Sandy.
I'm with you though, gas prices really hurt right now with the boat, and damn diesel at $2.80/gallon is stupid.

Hey, mine runs, it's just not very fast right now. And I haven't had to put gas in it since 4th of July and I've been out at least once a weekend, sometimes twice. :D

So you've adopted the "KROOZIN philosophy" of "why run both engines when you don't have to"?
:D

don't they get thirsty at speed?

Sounds like a PSI blown Top Gun to me. One gallon per minute per motor. And slowing down a little won't help, you have to find the sweet spot, maybe 3200, 3600, 3800, whatever works for that particular boat/load. The convenience of keeping your boat in the marina does cost a little more at the pump, but its well worth it.

Wow. I'll still go all weekend on less than 68 gallons.

I run both engines, just not much above an idle or the Smartcraft gets mad and backs it back down. Makes for some nice cocktail cruise time and it really allows us to take in the scenery that normally we'd be missing running 80mph. ;)
OK, so it sucks and I hate it. That's why it's getting fixed right now. :D

Not to bad really. From what I've seen I can go out around here 5-6 times before I'm down to a 1/4 tank. Out in the ocean, we ran all over the place from Newport to Long Beach, and around south towards Seal Beach (I think), then down to San Diego for a couple days, all over down there, back up to Newport and down to Dana Point, all on about 3/4 of a tank of fuel. It's really gentle on the fuel consumption. ;)

Yeah, but isn't he traveling about 250 total miles in all that lake driving? It is going to use a ton of fuel doing that route regardless of boat and motor.

I guess that is what has forced me to spend more time just hanging out when I do actually make it to the water this year.
Maybe Sunday to either the Zoo or Temple Bar
