Welcome. Nice boat. Might want to reconsider Checkers though. If you really like them then that's all that matters but... Those are a trendy thing from about 5 years ago or so.

I agree on the Checkers it really dates the boat not too mention there are 5 million boats in havasu with checkers on them. Otherwise the graphics look great.

the flames date the boat too. for yesterday, today and tomorrow... I am sure all of us with flames will never be able to sell our boats because like a chevy suburban, there are too many!
ditch the checkers, unless you are really attatched to them. too busy?

Whatever you do don't go cheap on the motor. Size DOES matter! You will always wish you had more. By the way, welcome aboard.

Flames especially tribal ones are the new thing right now and may date the boat but if done right I think they are fine. Like a 56 Chevy with flames on it. My boat has flames but not because I saw everybody elses and like them but because we like flames. The colors make it work and they are not tribal and all over the place. Just clean flames from front to back. If you like it then get it just realize it may hurt resale value.

Looks as if these Checkers are gonna be 86ed .....Dont want to be old even though I am .... Plus it was my brothers choice to add them , but that is just a quick decision away...
~Charlyox~
Motor we are going with is the HO 496 .....I did some research on the 525 . Can you give me an opinions why I should spend the extra 15 grand ? (Bragging Rights?? lol )
~Hardley Satisfied ~
The boat is gonna take 3 months to build once we give the final approval on the paint ..So I think the Regatta may be out of the picture right now :frown: but Ill be there in Spirit :boxed:
Wonderful group here Ladies and Gents , thank you !

I'm ok with the checkers :) Not to many flamed checkered boats out there, now just find some way to get some of the old school metal flake on it and you'll just about have all the fads covered :crossx:

It's fun to watch them get built. I stuck with the flames with a tribal look. Who knows how the boat will date, but at least I like it. We'll have some extra space if you want to hop aboard for the regatta. I'm making the reservations tonight.

I guess you can tell by the checkers on my boat it is five years old then
I didn't think the checkers looked bad as long as they were just an addition to alot of other color

Go with the 525 if you want to step up the performance. If you dont care pocket the cash. I would take a stab and guess maybe 10mph difference from the 496. Just keep in mind motor's in boats are like tits on woman, we always go to small the first time and end up going back for "one size bigger".

OK IM HERE NOW.......
LISTEN , sit down ...ok Here i go
a 496 is for little boats, I mean little lighter boats... You have a very large very heavy boat..... The 525 would be the smallest I would go in that boat. Once you fill the tanks , Ice chest gear and people, that 525 is gonna be working hard for you, the 496 would be on kill.........
Its only what 70 bucks a month over the life of the loan, that is what 2 dollars a day.
