Elementary my dear Watson, get a foot pedal with a Morse type cable to the carb and remove the throttle cable from you're existing shifter and just use it for shifting gears!.. Or if you want to clean it all up, get rid of the unit you have and get a cool shifter from Mike!..

the thing is the trim button for the drive is on the handle also. there is also a red knob to depress and engage the drive.

Pat, if this is for the new boat, spend some time with it before making this change. My buddy has a 21' Advantage I/O and you end up standing quite a bit when driving it. Be a real pain in the ass to have a foot throttle rather than a hand throttle. Hard to get use to, though , after years with a fooot throttle.

Pat,
Do you need a gas pedal?
I've got a spare from my last boat.

Those are electrical right?, you could put those on the steering wheel that would clean things up I would think!..

I've no idea if there's a specific kit for that but all the outboard racers have their control switches on the wheel, if it was me I'd just pick up some of those and rerout the wiring!..

Rex should have the switches that mount on the wheel, if I am not wrong, and you can get an aluminum shift handle with the lockout button also, either with or without neutral safety switch (probably should seriously consider the one with the switch)

I think I have the morse cable around for it too.
How about $ 50.

My friend has a Bass boat, and he has both a foot and lever handle gas. If you don't have a kill switch the foot feed is nice in cass you get bounced out of the seat.
