Just bought a Hustler 25 Talon. First Post - Been playing with props - Currently using a Hydromotive 5 Blade and going 94 mph. Only problem boat almost won't get on plane. Installing tabs next week. Any ideas on how much that will help me get on plane???

welcome to the boards...... you say 5 blade prop, but is it a 28,30,32? Do you have a V10 Ilmore like most new Talons? VERY nice boat....congrats

Pet This has a 25' Talon "Ripped" with an Ilmor V-10. It was the first one. I'm sure Randy would help you with any info you need on props

I have tried many props on my boat i only have 490 horsepower and with a 1.5 gear ratio I run a 4 blade 30 pitch bravo 1 and get around 87 Mph.It planes extreamly fast i would guess 4-6 seconds @ half throttle I have not heard of any one putting tabs on these boats.
I did run a 4 blade hydromotive prop and it was not set up with the blowout ring so it would take a long time to plane.
When i bought the boat it had a 32 pitch bravo 1 and still ran 87 but took a little longer to get on plane and had less throttle response.
I would start buy trying a merc prop before i put tabs on the boat.
Post you motor and gear ratio and i can probably tell you what will work best.

hey BOBCAT2...im new here, but i was thinking of buying a hustler 25 talon with a 525...i wanted to ask you some stuff about the boat and how you like it, and what speeds, and what options to get and some other stuff...i cant find a PM feature here, but if you could email me at jtlpoppi@aol.com that would be awesome...it looks like a sweet boat

thanks dumbandyoung....i live in northern NJ, i was also wondering if anyone had one of these boats in the area that i could check out, b/c the hustler factory only has one in the mold which doesnt do me much good, and the next closest one is 800 miles away at lake cumberland marine...basically any info on this boat would be greatly appreciated

i dont think much at all tabs are ok for pushing the nose down but dont really see any help with lift.good info for us would be hp,gear ratio, rpm and prop pitch.i had a 26 ao pretty much the same thing and tryed a few different combo's.

Tabs would help it roll over if they are low enough.
Here we go, when I had my AO I was doing donuts around Road Runner and had 14 naked chicks in the boat running 400mph before any of you were thinking about a cat....... :)
