Holly shit!!!! :skull:
I like this part: The original owner spent A LOT of money perfecting this combination. The hull was redesigned by Mr. Arneson himself.
I believe that... don't you? LOL!!!
This part too LMAO! This boat also has a "shorty" Powerglide transmission. :boxed:
Jim said knew a guy put a Arneson in a TX 19, but I don't think he knows about this one....

Don't laugh to hard, Ive been around Arneson drives and that thing could really work. And WOT Arneson drives are surfacing props, so it really isn't up to high. :)

I don't get it! How can you guys laugh and bash something you don't know about?
Arneson surface drives been around for many years and work really well. I've seen a few of them run, you should look into what they are all about. Arneson's hold many records and have many championships under their belts in all kinds of racing.

Hey Cas, good post. I met Howard Arneson about 30 years ago when he was first testing the surfacing props and drives. He is a pretty interesting guy. He lived in Tiburon in Marin County. Pretty fancy area..

He's still around and still running his boat on the bay making his 140mph runs. I believe he still takes people out for a "ride" in his boat if you happen to be there whens he's about to run.

Take a close look at the drive. It's adjustable!! That's why there's a ram on the top side, not a welded rod.

I don't know a whole lot, but I liked that boat.

Forkin' Crazy got to go for a ride in howards turine powered boat last year.. it was more like 180 mph instead of 140....

LOL, Bill!!! Acutally it was 168 on the GPS. I doubt some believe it. Hell, I use to work for Jim Youngblood too.
The TX20 has a round "jet" center pod. I still have my TX18 and it was hell to get over 80 with an outboard. It needs a pad to ride on. The jets had a ride plate at the rear of the pump for a flat running surface. Plus none of the ones I help build while working for him had those plates at the end of the tunnels. The 20's already had enough lift, and the only one with plates were the 18's and they were used only on drag boats and were inside the tunnels.
One more thing, I can't see Howard spending that much time on a 20 year old jet boat to Arneson conversion. I am sure he has plenty of other things to occupy his time. Rick might have given them some advice on the phone, but hands on? I think not.
I am NOT saying it couldn't be done. But knowing what I know, I can't see it going 120 mph smooth and stable like claimed, especially with the seller admitting that he has only had it to 85 mph.
Just my opinon, take it for what it's worth.

I agree with chris. lol did they waste that cigarette hull by putting arnesons on it????????????????? Thats like saying its a waste of a new truck to put a different stereo in it!!!! or a bigger engine. or four wheel drive!!!!!!!! wtf guys???????

I have had the privilage of being close with Howard for the last 12 years. He is the nicest man I have ever met and it would not be unusual for him to help anybody who asked him. He loves boats and boat people. If any of you are ever in San Rafel it would be a shame not to drop by and meet him. He still (83 in two weeks) works every day from noon till - -.
I first rode in his twin turbine 40' skater in 95 and have had several rides in the new 46. I was in the boat when Forkin Crazy got his ride. The wife & I are headed to San Rafel next month for a few days with him and we most likely will hit the water again.
He got me into turbines and Arneson drives in 95 when he talked me into buying a not completed project 31 Warlock with twin T53s and Arnesons. He had me re rig to a single setup and helped me every step of the way till it was operational.
He is currently helping with the conversion of my 69 Ron Jones ET boat from big block Chevy/speedmaster to General Electric T58/Arneson set up. Part of our upcomming trip is to work on the drive set up. He tells me he has some majic I have to travel to see. Can't wait to see what he has dreamed up.
Again - go see him. You will get a tour of the 46 and might even hit a day that he is going to the water.

Both of the boats Mark Nye built are V bottom. The latest (Sprint 2) is all aluminum with a G.E. T58 and a jet pump.
The boat runs low 90s with 50% power. He has way more power than the hull can stand. It is a beautiful installation. He does really good work.

For starters, less drag.

The rooster thrown by an arneson at speed is awesome too. Couple of hundred feet back at 100mph. No tailgating!
