New MSD 6al, good coil, MSD distributor( not the one that came with the engine) Setting the timing and it is showing 70 degrees. Not possible!!!!!! Balancer can only go on one way??? Engine was supposed to be set at TDC when I picked it up. Starts and runs. What could be the problem???

Maybe the outer part of the balancer has slipped??? Is it a two piece???

The balancer is an ATI.

Tim bring it up to TDC (hand rotate) and see what the balancer says !!!!

When I get home I will check posts. Some one will have the answer or maybe a combination will give me the answer.

Tim, you do have the light hooked up to #1 and not #2, right? :)
Verify the TDC mark like ST suggested.
Might even try a different light

Yeah, sounds like he's trying to time a chevy off of number one on a ford engine. If so, his timing is actually at 20 degrees.
