Just heard a rumor that AV gas (100LL) doesn't have the lubrication in it that regular automotive fuel has. Guy says that rings wear early. He adds a cup of 30wt to every 5gal of AV. Sounds weird to me. Any truth to this?

Never heard of 30w, but have heard of people adding Marvel Mystery Oil to av. It is a very dry fuel. Do a search on here and there should be about 200 threads that pop up regarding av gas and the pros and cons.

You will get varying opinions on that, although I suspect that everyone will agree that a cup of 30-wt is overkill, let alone the wrong lubricating additive. (If you must add anything, add Marvel Mystery Oil.) Frankly after all the research I've done, I don't think you need to add anything to AvGas except maybe 10-20% pump gas...
Avgas has 2 grams per gallon lead in it. That is more than plenty for valve seat lubrication. The last pump gas premium around here had 1/10th of a gram per gallon lead in it. A little lead goees a loooooong way.
The physical properties of AvGas are indeed different, but only slightly.

It's definitely lighter at 6 lbs / gallon. Smells better, but evaporates like twice as fast.

AvGas is 6 lbs a gallon.... the gov't requires it. :D

i run marvels mystery oil in my boat everytime plus a bottle of fuel dryer(water remover) cause my caps leak............

oh and I run 100LL in my boat. Its a must at 12.5-1 compression :D

A couple years ago all i used to run in my boat was av gas and i added marvel mystry oil also not cause the engine needed it but because it is so dry it kept locking up my rotory fuel pumps.I went through like three or four different pumps and three different types.
