I have a 26 foot JC Tri Toon (3pontoon boat) currently w/ a 4.3 w/alphadrive, I am wanting to get the boat to the 60 MPH range, I thought about repowering with a 454 or 502. Am I making a mistake? The company now offers this boat with a 350 mag that they say will run around 50MPH.

You would be much better off putting a small block in. Your alpha outdrive won't last long behind a big block, also most engine compartments on pontoons would have a hard time fitting a BB in. I bet your speed with a 300 hp SB would be closer to mid 50's. I know for a fact that a 27' Crest pontoon with HPT pontoons (2) will run 55-57 mph.

Hey, Guys thanks for the input and the website they were great. I realize it seems a little odd, and the thought crosses your mind why would any self respecting motorhead be caught in the a pontoon anyway. Two words "FOUR KIDS" thats right I have taken it upon myself to repopulate our small town here in Kentucky. That explains the pontoon why it needs to be in the 60 mph range is because my best buds new boat is in the 55 mph range. I'm sure you understand my crisis.
Any other thoughts keep them coming.
