Three Little Words That Work !!
(1)The three little words are:"Hold On, Please..."
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of
hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more
time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear the phone company's "beep-beep-beep" tone,
you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has
efficiently completed its task.
(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other
end?
This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and
records the time of day when a person answers the phone.
This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a "real"
sales person to call back and get someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is
to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as
quickly as possible This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it
kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your
name in their system any longer !!!
(3) Junk Mail Help:
When you get "ads" enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these
"ads" with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk
mail away
When you get those "pre-approved" letters in the mail for everything from
credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the
return envelope.
Most! of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs
them more than the regular 37 cents postage "IF" and when they receive
them back.
It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50
cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that
case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these
cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.
One of Andy Rooney's (60 minutes) ideas.
Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a
pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then
just send them their blank application back!
If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on
anything you send them.
You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them
guessing! It still costs them 37 cents.
The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their
own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let
them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're
paying for it...Twice!

sign up on the do not call registry (https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx) and you wont need to deal with telemarketers. :) i have been on it since the beginning and the only time my phone rings is when its someone i know, or the occasional wrong number.

I just ask them after their pitch if they want to buy a slightly used, sunk once v-drive and it usually goes silent after that.........( . )( . ).......... :crossx:

I've started asking tele. marketers if they could buy one of my listings. If they say no then I guess I don't have the money to buy what their selling. It's funny what they say. Usually they choke. The OC regester calls 4 times a week. I tell them I have the internet.

I do the same thing. I try and sell them billet speaker covers. When they ask what is that, I do an indepth explaination of the process from start to finish. When they say no, I ask them how the hell am I going to buy something from them if they make it hard for me to sell anything by taking up my time. I'm broke!
I really don't have as much time as it seems, but I figure what the hell, try and piss them off as much as I can.
The best was a guy from the Discover card company from India. alalalalalah
He didn't buy anything, and I got him to yell have a nice day sir and hang up.

I've been sending the Postage Paid envelope back either empty or full of other junk mail for a while now. :yuk:
It takes a little more time, but it's amusing to me to stuff the envelope full of shredded paper and put it back in the box! :p
I've noticed recently that the envelopes have begun to have a warning about "unauthorized use" and a bar code that says "customer tracking #" above it. I think it's a scare tactic, but I've been tearing that out of the envelope and then write TRACK THIS on the inside.
F-'em I get more junk mail then legit. My friend's wife is a Mail Carrier and I have recently begun to feel sorry for them forced to carry so much $hit around in their bag.
Rant Rant. Yesterday my computer got "Hijacked" by adware/malware and it took me 4 hours to clean out 94 installs that all happened in about 15 minutes...........bastards.

But to hang out, I'd have to leave the computer and phone.....
Actually, I'll finally be out to Havasu a few times between now and November. The first weekend of Nov. is my last boating weekend for the year and we do it in Havasu.
Looks like a Parker weekend middle of Oct. as well.

The LA times would call me relentlessly. Finally I told them I was blind and would sue them for purposely mocking me of my disability if they ever called again. haven't had a call since.
