WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR 16' MANTRA LAST NIGHT. IT SEEMS WE BROKE THE IMPELLER IN HALF. THE RATCHET RELEASE WENT INTO GEAR WHEN WE WERE TIMING THE ENGINE, AT ABOUT 2000 RPM AND THE REST IS HISTORY. WE PUT THE MOTOR IN OUR EARL SMITH BUT WITHOUT A RATCHET RELEASE THE DRIVELINE WOULD NOT REACH. :burningm: IT IS NOT FAIR WE HAVE HAD A RUNNING MOTOR IN TWO BOATS THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS NOT FAIR. THE STEARING IS LOCKED UP IN THE EST BUT WE COULD HAVE FIXED THAT!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!1

i havent ever fooled with jets much.. i boat one several years ago that had been sitting,, but i havent done anything to it,, i need a set of mounts to put a 460 in it... went to st louis last weekend and picked up a 18 ft earl smith boat with a friend.. we stopped on the way back and put it in a river that we came across on the way home.... was the 1st time i had drove a jet.. it was great.. he bought the boat that jetmugg had for sale on here ...

I highly recommend a ratchet for that 17'. They are notorious for tossing out drivers. Did you have a Bower's ratchet with the neutral option in the boat that broke the impeller? Had the same thing happen in one of our Placecraft's. Got lucky and didn't do any damage.

Not too long ago, I talked to a guy from El Dorado that had one of the Earl 17's. It used to belong to the guys from North American Jet and had a Jacuzzi pump in it. It was a drag boat several years ago. I have this yellow one for sell and Tom Morrow had mentioned it to him. Do you know any history on yours? We've raced this one for the past few years until last year and it's been parked since then, and by the way, is for sell, again. Now that I think about it, the Jacuzzi may have been in a 16' Earl.

Hey guys, what is the metal plate that fits the contour of the floor in the bottom of the boat that is between the seat and where the front of the engine would be??????

That probably helps keep it from spinning out, maybe not a bad idea. Did you see the pics I sent your dad of the 17' I have?

Bill:
Have you "re-fitted" the black Gullwing for Mike to drive? Has he gotten any more use out of it?
Steve.

DOH, dreaded red X on my screen. Has he done any GPS runs with it? I was hoping the wedge and ride plate adjustment would be worth a few mph.

73kona:
If you know Sambo, next time you talk to him, tell him that you heard that no matter how good his boat looks, his POS still has to start on the starting line!
Also, the yellow boat that Snow has belonged to Johnny Dunlap (I think) and he ran in M/E at SDBA races. If that it is it, it is a quick boat...so long as you don't mind getting a little damp once in a while...right 2-R's?

Hey 1R.......... That's the boat. The biggest trick to not getting wet in one of these is , don't chop the throttle at 100 plus mph, and the second trick is refuel before the 4th 1/4 mile pass( result is same as chopping the throttle). Gary, are you going to Bryan?
