I used to race em now they just hang in the garage, Except for the Intense DH bike I got shot for. And yeah that pretty much stopped me from racing.

Shit, I paid $1200 for mine 14 years ago...... :220v:
Probably have another $500 worth of Ti and other different stuff on it.
Plus the one that I started with (all that's original is just the frame) and I got a smooth $1200 parts on it.
I have just begun to get back in to it. I can still go down hill good, it's just the up hill that's a bitch...LOL!!! I use to ride about 75 miles a week, weather permitting. :)

I ride. Just in Japan!!
I paid over a grand for my bike. I have a Cannondale Jekyll.
Check out http://www.mountainbikebill.com/
It is a Cali site for trails and the like. OC and San Diego and areas. Even Japan.
Riding over here is AWESOME. THere are trails everywhere and most are specifically for bikes as it is a mode of transportation just like a car is in the States. This weekend we rode THRU some mountains. The bike trails went thru some tunnels that were too steep to ride. http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/05/CUSA/spec/5vnblk.jpg

That's cool. I lived in Japan for three months and took my bike there with me. I converted my mountain bike to a street bike and was a road rider. I lived out in the country near Mt. Fuji (in Fuji-yoshida) and used to ride around the five lakes there. One day I rode 65 miles around all five lakes: Yamanaka-ko, Motusu-ko, Shoji-ko, Kawaguchi-ko, and Sai-ko (great name).

Planning a ride from Fussa (Yokota Air Base) to Yokokuska along the Tama River here in the near future. That one is going to be about 65 miles one way. Biking is really the best way to see Japan.
Rode up around the Siebu Dome Sat and thru the tunnels. About 20 miles
A friend of mine wants to ride to Fuji. I am up for it. Just gotta find the time.

I was going to chime in but if your bike is only worth $700, you're not in my league and not up to riding with me. The streamers on my handlebars are worth more than that.

Looks like you got plenty of good tips from others on the board. I've used this board http://socalmtb.com/ now for about 6 years. I haven't burned out on the sport since '91. Currently run a Ellsworth Truth, handcrafted in Ramona, Ca. Mostly ride up in the Angeles Crest area.

Thanks for the comment. Go to the link I provided and look for the navigating tool and click on Strawberry Peak under Southern Ca local MTB trails. Go to message #81, the guy in front is Mike Miller 52 from Fontana, Ca. Guys like that keep me in check.

Nice bike and a sweet deal but if word were to get out that I was riding a $500 bike, I could never show my face around here again.
