Okay Southwest Hot Boaters ... here's your chance ...
After speaking to many of you who have shown the interest of wanting to come out and try out sanctioned drag boat racing, but do not know if you want to invest the money on all of the safety equipment up front ...
Well here's your chance.
I have spoken to one of our members from right here on the boards who took the time to go down and speak with the owner of Lifeline, Bill Fauntleroy. So up front, we should take the time and thank our buddy Jim (otherwise known as Squirtin Thunder)! He volunteered in conversations with me to help organize this & I know I really appriciate his time and trouble ... so thanks again Jim.
So ... here it is
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is all per Bill Fauntleroy.
What you can rent for the weekend;
Safety Pants, Ballistic Shorts $ 50.00
Jacket, non chute $100.00
Rental fees can be applied towards your purchase at the event.
This equipment you must buy;
Helmet restraint with attachments $ 80.00
Kill switch Lanyard, 6' with clip $ 5.00
Also;
Used safety equipment will be for sale
New ready made safety equipment at major discounts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now with all of that said ... Bill said we need to step up the purchases and rentals better than last year. He was quite hesitant to do this.
Last year there were only two rentals of pants and jackets at this event in Sept. There were also two jackets and some other safety items bought.
It costs him a lot of money to come out and we need to support this program if we want it to continue ... so lets step it up and make this happen.
If you are interested, and have any questions ... thier contact information is listed below ... please feel free to contact them and ask and/or reserve your equipment up front. They are great people to work with and are offering a great service!

Every time I go to the races, the lifeline crew has been exceptionally helpful and sell great products. I know I have paid their fuel to get there a time or 2 and I wouldn't give a dime if they were not a pleasure to deal with. Offering to rent this equipment is great thanks to life line and everyone who arranged for this to happen.

Going to try and run River Racer in October. Need to go grab the boat out of storage in Bullhead, bring her home, build a rope deflector, wire up a kill switch. I think I am dialed in on gear. We are planning to try and do a documentary in Truckin' in our water toys section on how to get involved in the sport of drag boat racing. Great promotion for NJBA. Need to get a few more people off the grass and into the drivers seat. If I cannot make October than definitely March.

I finally got off the grass this weekend and it was a blast at the IHBA race in SD. I Need to check my schedule and see if I am going to be able to make it to race or spectate. I also realized at tech in SD that my jacket is out of cert. I have had it for a long time and with the intent of racing.

were you the dude I saw smacking a screwdriver handle in the drain plug hole of that boat last year? If so I have to say that was a pretty good McGiver (sp) move.

If you get the jacket to us by tomarrow, the 20th, with note, we can have it done by this weekend and either send it to you or deliver it at Ming. Call us if you want more information (928) 669-9241.

Jim and Brian, I won't be making it in September. Between myself and my wife we have 3 parents in thier 80s. When they have a problem (medical) it takes priority over boat racing.
Yes this is the boat with the screwdriver, plumbers tape, plug. I took the plug out of the center pod, and left it at the pits. Lucky that Jim (McGiver) noticed it, and pluged the hole with this setup.

Maybe October, but doubtful. Mother in law Knee replacement.
I'm not giving up though, I'll try again in the spring.

Lisa, I do need to get mine and my brothers re certified, I will not need it by this weekend though, I just realized that the Ming race is the 24th and There is no way I will make it. I will either send them with someone else or mail them in. I won't need them until the IHBA Finals in Phoenix. Thanks for the fast response though. As usual you are on top of things and know that racers always need stuff yesterday.

I am doing it for the practice and basically since I paid for it already with the fees to race in SD. By the way, Brian, Where were you? I am looking at coming up to LA area this week to get my injection flowed and stop the guessing game. Jim seems to think my injection pump went away. Which is surprising considering it is only about 20 years old. :mad:

I know, I know ... I got about 15 calls this weekend ...
I was getting the trailer out of storage and started loading for next weekend.
My "buddy" who was hooking me up with tickets suddenly disappeared and didn't answer his cell phone ... so I gave up after finding out it was going to be like $60 or $70 to get in ...
Any ways ... are you going all the way to Enderle? Why not Lake Forest, to Ralph Gorr? He flows all of my stuff and is off of El Toro road ... about an hour and a half closer ... plus, IMO, does a better job, will help you out with a tune up, give you his "secret how to manual" (a page by page book on how to properly tune your engine and set up nozzels, etc. ... you get it only if you flow your system with them).
Call me if you need his info ... 714-448-4345.
Later ...

It is amazing what people will pay to see these races. And I am sure they have people registering for their RV spaces now. $400.00 for 4 passes and an Rv space for the weekend. My parents paid $150 for a 3 day parking pass and 2, 3 day passes to watch us break our stuff. It is all about location and the party atmosphere. A lot of people pull their trailers from their spots at the river to go to these races. We need another venue close to here. Maybe one of the casinos will build one for us...errr them. :D
