This was taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over Lake George. ( this Lake George is in Ocala FL.) That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth! If you go wakeboarding at the west end of the lake -- try not to fall. :D

That sounds like it could be interesting. My father always said that the gators in Florida used to take dogs that were close to the shore line in places.

Yeah this lake is part of the St. Johns river where we ski on the weekends. Lots of gators around, but they leave people alone for the most part. This guy is a big one tho, he may be one of the biggest around. A LOT of people ski and boat in this area I think lake George is 15-20 miles across so it's not a small lake, second biggest lake in Florida actually. It's pretty common to be skiing and look off to the left or right and see a gator on the shore sunning himself. You kinda get used to it, but it still makes ya think when you fall and the gator goes into the water :squiggle:
And to the person that said Florida sucks.....couldn't agree more. This state blows, and real estate "ain't so cheap" no mo. :boxingguy

I know it seems a bit odd. Frankly they scare the shit out of me, it's not like I'm not scared of them. They are just real skittish. I've never seen one go toward a boat. If they go in the water off the bank, you can bet it's buggin out. It still is disconcerting, and we take measures when a skier is in the water to get the boat back to them quick when they fall. But still, I've never heard of a skiier getting attacked around here. They are nothing like sharks, try to scare away a shark and you'll just piss him off. Cant get close enough to a gator to piss em off most of the time. Now don't get me wrong, no way in hell would i ski in the Everglades. I'm dumb but I'm not stupid. The rivers and lakes are much different than a swamp when it comes to gators. Very very few will get as big as this monster in thread here (which is apparently in Louisianna anyway). I think I'd swallow my tongue if I was water skiing and saw that beast. The biggest you'll see in the lakes and rivers are probably no more than 10-11 feet and not near as heavy as this pig. But they still give a pucker factor of about 9 when you see one close and he dissappears under the water.
I have to distract my girlfriend if I see one cuz if she sees one, she won't go in the water all damn day :2purples:

No, no, no. You jump on their head and throw a rag over their eyes. Then they get confused, right?

I live in south Alabama close to lake Eufaula and we fly out there alot. There are a lot of gators in and around that lake but there is one in particular about a mile or so south of the dam that is about that size. We guess about 16'. Have only seen him from the air so not for sure but I will take the cam and try to get a pic or two and post ;)
