i know this has been asked in a million threads but here it goes again.where do you guys start with the ride plate angle?i can't find any threads that show pics of how to do it.i'm installing my first shoe kit this coming week and kinda confused on how you guys gauge the 2 degree thing.it's an e-pump and i've read all the install threads and pics i can find here but haven't seen anything on angling the plate.2 degree up or down?2 degree angle compared to what?i'm a dummy, so if anybody can remember a thread on this, help a newbie out.

I'll take pictures of the correct way to do it and post them by the morning for you ... I've also looked and don't see any actual pics ...

First take a 4ft level or straight edge and put it on the keel line down the middle of your boat bottom. The biting edge of the shoe should be 1/8 inch above the keel line. put a digital level on the level and raise or lower the boat till it's level. then put the digital level on the rideplate. The back of the ride plate should be up approx 3 1/2 degrees. now you have a basic setup. Use your GPS meter and your seat of the pants to tell you when your boat is the fastest and handles the best. Good Luck Budlight ps. Make shims to lower shoe or ride plate at rear plate support to pump.

If you have an electronic level, it makes the ride plate much easier to adjust.
The keel line( bottom centerline in front of the pump intake) of the boat becomes 0* reference. Place level on the ride plate and raise the plate until the level reads 2*. One end of the ride plate is fixed to the pump and/or shoe, the other end is adjusted either raising (bring the plate closer to the pump) or lowering (further away from the pump).
Alot of variables determine the best position of the plate. Maybe someone can post some pictures for you. Hope this helps!

the shoe has to be adjusted or machined.it looks like a horseshoe at that back of the pump intake, sticks down to scoop or direct water into the intake and loads the impellor.someone correct me if i'm wrong.still learnin! :hammerhea

Pay no attention to the bottom of the boat or placment. I had to do an extensive amount of bottom work to correct some factory issues..
The shoe is the aluminum pieace at the back of the intake. the rear most edge should start 1/8" above the keep line. You can lower it (deeper in the water by unbolting it and adding shims under it

But when you have a HTP E-pump shoe and ride plate it is a bit different.

Ok, here's how we do it ... we measure the keel ... and calibrate our smart level to the bottom of our boat ( to see where the zero line is ) ...
http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/2358ride_plate_001.jpg
Then we measure where the ride plate is ... and add shims to make sure we have the desired up degrees that we want ... usually 1.5* to 2.0* UP ...
Good Luck ...

Hey ST, there are several different brands of those things but you can usually find them at Lowe's or Home Depot. And if you don't have a small digital angle finder you should pick one of those up while you're at it as they are always coming in handy.

HomeDepot here in Bullshit City doesn't have shit.
Even Sears in Vegas does not have them.

I don't know if you guys have super wal-marts out there, but if you do they have a smart level that is made by Stanely Tool co. I think. You might also find out where local building contractors buy their stuff because builder's supply type places usually have them also.

Sorry ST, I wasn't trying to mislead you. Around here the places I mentioned do carry them, and they usually know what they are at a builder's supply typ place but I would never asked anyone from Wal-Mart about something because they get that deer in the headlight look!

They also sell the Smart Tool module by itself so you can use it with different length rails. I bought a module only through Amazon.com and use it in a 2' rail for boat stuff and change it over to a 4' rail for carpentry work.
