I've never seen anywhere close to that with my new Duramax. Is it stock, or are you running a programmer, new exhaust, intake, etc?
I'm in the Kilr camp, my fuel mileage has sucked.

Mine does the same thing right after I get fuel and jump on the highway. It takes a few miles for that thing to start reading right.

OK, I'm busted  that was a little of a setup.
BUT, going from upland to glendora (15mi) via the 10 fwy in the am I consistently get 19-20 mpg at about 65-70. Coming back (uphill) it averages back to 18.
towing the boat to Long beach it got 17.9 and back got 15.4. I have checked the accuracy of the meter through fill ups and it is within 0.10 gal each time.
Kachina, you're right- if i go much over 65 then the mileage tanks.

When I had 500 miles on my duramax I drove it to the river and just under 18mph. It was raining though and I cruised pretty much between 65 and 70 the whole way there. Now I cruise around 75-80 and I get around 16.5-17 and I'm not easy on the go pedal when I pass others. Only got 10k miles now so hopefully it will get a little better soon.

Guarantee you figure it up with a calculator after you fill up again you'll be doing good to have gotten 18. Granted I live at 7000ft. & I typically drive pretty fast & whether I'm pulling a boat, inclosed trailer with 4 snowmobiles, or whatever else the best I've ever got is 16 so for your 24 I'm not buying it one bit.

The best I have gotten is 18.1MPG, this is on a stock 05 D/Max.
I even put a camper shell on it, to keep tools secure, was hoping this would help, it did not. Was hoping to get maybe 20MPG out of this truck.
With diesel going up, I might just start driving my old van that I have not sold yet.
Was out in a small town on Thursday, diesel at the Chevron was $3.49 a gallon.
When is this going to stop? Or I might have to stop driving!!
