Thank You very much. I wanted to show the new trailer under it. I buffed it all out and she looks great. Still needs some color on it. It looks like K-50 last year.
I have a question for some of you to think about. I have cut the side supports out of the baot. They were rotten and dingy looking. I got them both out whole for good patterns. I was thinking about remaking these in aluminum. I thought about glassing in a firring strip on the floor that the aluminum would back up to. I own a body shop and they make some incredible bonding glues now. So you cut out the aluminum and fit it in the boat and them have it powdered, Glue the aluminum into the boat and you would be done for life. No rot, no delaminated glass. Just gimme your thought. If you think I'm looney, go ahead and tell me. Thanks

Mike,
I have seen that done on some drag cars. my expriance has been that some look great till they go out side. The problem lies in the thermal growth diferance between the two materials. I know the bond would be stong just do not know if the aluminum would grow enough to warp the hull with temp changes? I you could give me a idea as to the length and thickness you are thinking about I could give you the growth rate per deg of temp change.

Brian, I don't know the thickness yet. I was thinking 3/16 being the thinnest I would use. I am going down to Whitewater Marine where they build the river boats and see what sizes they have and thickness. I think it would look real good and of curse i know nothing about the temp changes and what it would do. They are just supports for the gunwales on the sides. You can walk on those things with them and without them it flexes way too much.

Mike while you are thare pick up the 21 eagle sport (joking) 3/16 would be plenty. The best person around here i know to talk to would be Craig down behind Barton Hitch in Garden City. He does alot with the old Mc larens. There is a roundy rounder in the shop next door but his name has sliped my mind. For material have you tried Metals Supermarket? They have treated me well at the shop for years. And yes it would look good but a kinda like aluminum
