...to get a wood gate? The opening to my side yard is about 12 ft wide and I was going to have a wrought iron gate made but don't have the money for it right now. So I am going to settle for wood for now so that my side yard isn't hanging open for everyone to see. Want something that's going to be sturdy and look decent and it's probably going to get painted. Any ideas?

What is this, "Hot Home Improvement"?
Seriously. Check out a PVC gate. White. Lightweight. A couple of my neighbors have them.

I've been quoted around $3000 to fill that gap with iron.....a wood one has got to be cheaper.....

There was a curve at the top in the design, other than that it was pretty straight forward except for the knuckles....everything was metalized and powder coated with a mesh or steel backing....we had an option to have wood in the center framed in iron (kinda castle-like). We will eventually do this but for now I just need to fill in the space. I'm gonna give Home Depot a call. By the way...the wood one I would hang, the iron I'd leave to the professionals.....I really don't have the time to hang either setup....

Three people quoted me that much and one guy that I know gave me good guy pricing....It's all the prep and the price of steel has gone up a lot. It also included installation and a small portion of iron that continued on each side of the gate on top of the supporting wall. I don't want any plain jane seen it everywhere iron gate. This was a nice one and they all had sketches and pictures of what they have done and what they could do.
