INSTALL QUESTION ?? help

When installing the engine into boat w/ new stringers (no mounting holes )
do you pull the engine all the way back on the Jet so the U Joint cant go back any further? OR do you give it a little space?

Mine has play. It was already set-up when i bought it so I do not have any technical knowledge, but it makes sense not to have extra friction.

I think I had about a 1/2" to 3/4" play or so.

Yes, just a little play would be good, otherwise you risk it pushing on the crank thrust bearing from part heat expansion. I suspect anything from 1/4 to 3/4 inch would be good.
