why would a motor run at 210 - 220 all the time
info: sbc, 9 to 1, comp cam 280,oil press 75 +,oil temp 240,not lean on plugs, all clearances perfect. It does not matter how much water you run through it or if you restrict the flow this motor has always run at this temp. it has done this in the boat and stock car

Does the sender match the guage?
Where is the sender located?

actually there are three different senders on the motor. I run two guages head temp is 3-5 degrees higher than manifold. Mechanical guages backed up the electric guage readings

basic question. does it have a thermostat?

Hey Mike, How are you set up? Do you have a heat exchanger or is it set up like most of the jetboat that "us" guys use. If you have a thermostat, do you have a couple of small holes drilled in it for a bypass? Are you pre-heating the water through your manifolds? Lots of of unanswered questions.
In this photo, you can see the plumbing set I was running. I would preheat through the inlet on the bottom of the manifolds, then into the front of the engine. I have had a rock partially block of a hose and restrict water flow, causing the engine to run warm for a while. Did this problem happen from the start or is it new?

Its not a waterflow restriction issue its a motor that runs at 210-220. This motor did this in my race car it does it in the boat.
JB I ran the same setup as you have and the marine power set up and I get the same thing
Rex with and with out t-stat and with restrictors 1/2,5/8,3/4 water valve wide open
I'm at a loss with this motor and its been apart too many times. I guess it will go back under the bench as a back up again
