I finally found a place to send much needed items for the people in the disaster zone. I received this email in response to an internet ad I placed earlier today.
************************************************** **
My brother-in-law is the Relief Coordinator for our parish and has given me a list of items we desperately need. We are not asking for money...only items needed for these people. If you can help with whatever you can send we would be most grateful! Myron & I will make sure they are distributed where needed. We have alot of donations of soap, toothbrushes, etc so we're ok on those for now.
The following are items we have none or very little of and need
desperately:
*Baby Items: baby wipes / disposable diapers/ formula / baby
bottles / baby shampoo / baby blankets >anything for babies
*Purell or some type hand sanitizer
*Pillows / blankets
*little T-shirts ( babies to childrens sizes)
*Over the counter pain relievers (tylenol, motrin, tums, alka
seltzer, pepto bismol, band-aids, etc)
* color books / colors / board games / books (for kids in shelters)
You can send to:
Marksville City Hall
Attn: M. Gagnard, Hurricane Relief Coordinator
427 N. Washington Street
Marksville, La. 71351
Phone # to the mayor's office for verification: 318-253-9500

Thanks so much to each of you in advance...please keep these people
in your thoughts and prayers!

If you can't afford a monetary donation, please try and send out what you can. If you go to the website, you will see a complete list of items in need.

And you're sure if we send this stuff via UPS it will get delivered?
I don't think I/We can be sure of anything these days but it's a legit address.
I am a UPS daily pickup account. Anything anybody would like to send, I'll ship it for you for free as long as you get it to me.
That's Great! I would hope some of the shipping companies would give people discounts on shipping but I doubt they will.

amazing isn't it!? We did the clean out the closet thing this past weekend and couldn't believe how many clothes we came up with. Our first 5 boxes go out tomorrow with more to follow.
I asked the kids what they had left to wear "Geez Dad, our drawers are still full"
The one good thing, my son's floor is now visible, carpet is real clean too :D
