Ground Wire Length

JL 300/4. They recommend ground no longer than 36". Boat is 21', batteries in the back, amp in the middle (only place to put it). If the ground and power are the same length (8'), is that the end of the world? What are the impacts?

No problems, just use a large enough wire based on length and current draw. The ground length at 36" is for a vehicle installation, where the chasis ground makes up for a large gauge wire run. Make sure the power and ground wires are both the same gauge.
