Thought about it but the schools are not great and there is not enough life there for us full time. Long drive for OT if your at home. My .02

I have thought about the school system. We are going to a new schedule in Jan. which I worked at another Dept. before my current one. It's a good commuter sched. Just bouncin' around the idea.....Getting sick of CA.(or I should say just the freeloaders)

I did an aweful lot of drivin back and forth the past 4 or 5 months to havi. I stayed for days or weeks at a time, the drive back and forth just flat out sucks.

We work the 4/6 kelly schedule and this is by far the best schedule I have worked in my career. Did the 2 on 4 off for a few years and then 72 on 96 off for about 5 years and 4 off and 6 off is definately the best for us. We have babies as well as a 9 yo so I don't ever see us doing it until retirement. We did a 17 day straight this summer and I went to work for 3 days in the middle and it worked out OK.

I worked the 4/6 for 5 years. That 4 day tour sucks at a busy station(18-24 calls/shift) because you sleep/recover on all the in-between days. 6-dayers are nice for the summer but besides that if your not on vacation there's not enough money to keep going back to home depot three times a day. When I worked 48/96 the first time, every 4-dayer I was at the river, I was with the family alot more and seemed to enjoy my time off more.
