I just returned from 10 days in Italy. We rented a car an went to Milano, Lake Como, Varonna, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome.
I noticed an interesting thing. I had not been in Italy since 1972, when I use to race for Evinrude and we raced Paris, France and Berlin, Germany, in those years that I raced for Evinrude...
What I saw made me really wonder, if the United States isn't way the hell off base on a lot of things....
First, the only fat women I saw, were Americans.
Second, it seemed that many Italians were not RICH, but they seemed to have JOB......I noticed that even their jelly was MADE IN ITALY. Every little town, that we crusied through, seemed to have small factories, where employees rode bicycles or motor scooters to work, but again, they seemed to be working.
I saw people from one end of the country to the other. I didn't see any crooked teeth or homeless people or graffitti. We walked the streets in all the cities, late at night, and never felt in danger...Maybe we were, but we didn't get that feeling...Like you would in Santa Ana, or Long Beach.....
The thing that impressed me the most, was the shitters... They were big with a square hole in them...Two handles, one for number one and two (big one) for number two... I could see that toilet here in the USA......First, they'd take it China a copy it...then, they'd make it smaller and cheaper...Then, like our "NEW" toilets, everytime you take a dump in a new toilet, it stops up... And we'd call it "PROGRESS" because it is CHEAPER than an Italian toliet..........but the toilet would be a piece of junk!!!!!! Like even our nosels we have for watering the yard...such junk plastic crap, drop it once and it breaks... Shitter would be the same... Take a dump, ruin the shitter...
My father was a house painter. We lived very well.. He always painted every house like he OWNED it. I make Boat Propellers....I make each one as if I wanted it on MY boat.....Seems to me, that WORK isn't bad, I've enjoyed making propellers for more than 36 years.... The Italians I saw had pride in Italy....and pride in themselves...Pride that this was THEIR PIZZA SHOP..THIS WAS THEIR ICE CREAM STORE!!!!
I rememer when gas stations, liquor stores, mini markets, camera stores, dress shops, baot shops, coffee shops, and small shops in general were owned by MOM and POP...Now the Wal Marts, Proctor and Gamble tell us dealing with China is GOOD for US....
Hell, I see a city of New Orleans...did anyone have a job??? What do we make in AMERICA???? Maybe, it doesn't matter....Maybe getting the damn job done and getting the MONEY IS what matters....
Not everyone I knew when I was a kid was rich, but everyone had a dad and their dad had a job. They had a JOB or a small store...I grew up in Bellflower, California...where milking cows was a good job...or painting cars was a good job...fixing tires was good...
It seems to me, we need a NEW POLITICAL PARTY, an INTERNET PARTY...A party that would stand up for working Americans.... Both parties, I'm afraid, only want to get reelected.....That is JOB NUMBER ONE...THE PEOPLE????? Let them eat cake!!!!

Went to the Genova Boat Show and stayed in Porto Fino (roughed it LOL) They take great pride in whatever they make.. What can you say the WOMAN the FOOD The Coffee all unreal.. anyway to make a long story short spent a unplanned week and a half sight seeing it is that nice..But in those days I had a Factory to manage in the Middle-East (Kuwait) the fun was over.

I'd change our laws for gasoline companies. I'd require gasoline companies to sell gas to gas stations...No matter the station's name. A MObil station, owned by a MOM and POP could sell Shell out of THEIR statioon...They could shop for the cheapest price for them to buy....
Manufacturers could not direct, only to distributors..
Do you realize many stores in Europe do not open on Sunday, by law, because Sunday is a day for FAMILY...and If you are working, how could you be with family???
$33,000,000,000 profit for the quarter ain't bad for MOBIL!!!! MAybe, I'll become a SOCIALIST and suggest MOBIL be run by the DMV.......Holly Cow, what did I just suggest?????
