Just setting up a thread for the inevitable comments and photo's from the Blue Lake/Moses Lake Labor day shindigs.
First comments: WIND all weekend. We got out, but not as much as anyone wanted. When there was decent weather the roll bar boats and lake lice were out and had the water chewed up worse than the wind. More on this later, I'm sure.
I finally got to GPS my Tahiti (350 Chevy/OMC 800 I/O) and clicked a 59.3 mph pass :D , with about 15-17 gallons of fuel (nose tank), 4400 rpm, 21+ s/s tri-blade prop, and lots of trim. Using the AMD Prop/Speed calculator that figures to .12020364 slippage. A non-GPS pass later in the day hit 4600 RPM, which would translate to 62.0 MPH  (I know, it doesn't count since it's not GPS verified :boxingguy , but I like it!!). It should go faster as the fuel level drops, but I never had another chance to run on GPS due to the weather :( .
Got to meet and spend time with: the '78Roger's, Malcom and family, the Jrork's, Cap'n No Fun, Big Fat, Vern, JR, and more of the Snohomish river gang (wow what a bunch!! ), and a few local's from the Moses lake/Blue lake areas. We also got to check out both lakes. We (myself, the Draggin' Lady, and the munchkin) will be waiting to hear the plans for the next gettogether, and look forward to meeting more of the Hot Boater's from the Great Northwest.
The Pontiac 400 in the Draggin' Wagon (future Wichcraft motor) ran flawlessly, exept for the fuel milage, which sucked. Looks like about 12-13 mph. Need to work on the carb jetting to clean it up a little more before it goes in the boat.
Special thanks to my understanding wife (the Draggin' Lady), for realizing how much I wanted to take the boat, and stepping up and towing the Tahiti for around 500 miles round trip  :D  . She did great, and I would trust her on any future tow (unless we are using the Dodge, since she still can't drive a stick).
Need to go unpack the trailer and get the Tahiti back in the carport.
Later,

We from the Snohomish Group had a very nice time, despite losing two boats. ( Not sunk thankfully) The wind was merciful, and we had no weather related delays at Potholes. Jetster Jeff developed a lower end knock, after a fluctuating oil pressure gauge. I had the pump bearing let go puking grey matter out of the front of the pump. I'll pull the engine, check bearings for any damage to the thrust, etc... I'm fully anticipating a major pump rebuild, and am sorta wondering if I would be better off going with a different pump altogether. I now have a Jacuzzi WJ with a new Place diverter. I need thoughts on this, as well as pricing. I'm not totally against a hull modification, but we all know how much fun that is. I could run a blown 454 that will give me the torque required to get me to 6000 RPM with a "B" cut, using the Jacuzzi. G.R. is the dude to beat this coming year, ran 72 on the GPS. Craig is the man for towing me in against the stiff eastern Wa. breeze. Wade and Mary towed Jeff in and get a huge thank you for that. Rode bikes around, and all in all was good. We didn't make it to Blue cuz of the breakage. On the return trip I ran through a lost crate of Apples, making Freeway apple sauce all over the caravan! That stuff is slippery! Gotta go, I'll check in with all soon...Matt

Okay guys. Here comes some photos. Hopefully I didn't forget anybody. I have a lot more so let me know if I did.
We had a great time and really enjoyed finally meeting everybody. We couldn't have found a better group to go with.
Despite Matts best efforts at jinxing our boat, we had no problems. Looks like the pump is pretty loose. Might have gotten some more out of it but that was up against the rev limiter of 5900. We've got plenty of time tinker it out the details and tighten things up
Malcolm's blender in a boat/squiggy maker was a site to see. And for those of you who have had to listen to him sandbag about "only low 50's for the Nimitz", check out the shot of him full roost and air'd out. Looks faster than that if you ask me.
The run back to Mardons as a group was probably the highpoint for us. Can't wait to get back over there.
Here goes, hope this works. Take care and hope to see everybody again soon......John

Great pictures Mr. Rork. The only picture I took was the trailer minus one wheel. Gosh that Rogers looks a lot purtier in your photos than in real life.

Geary it was great to meet you and your family. Lake Roosevelt next year would be good. I'm thinking 4th of July weekend. The 4th falls on Tuesday, so a long weekend would be good.

John,
Great pic's. Can you do a cut an paste to put the Tahiti in front of my trailer?? Chris's boat looks great, but that would make a nice pic of all my toys together.
You also need to talk top Jeff @ Blue lake, and see if he wants the first two pic's for advertising, those are awesome.
Chris,
Lake Roosevelt sounds interesting, but depends on fuel prices.... How about a Mossyrock trip, keep things on the west side, and explore another unique lake.

1978 Rogers
09-07-2005, 07:42 PM
Mossy Rock would be good. Riffe and Mayfield lakes by Mossy Rock are both nice. Campgrounds are nice also. A lot of evergreen trees to block the wind.

Trees are good.....
Do we have time to do a Hallowroost type get together before mid-October?? Not sure if my weekends will line up with anyone elses (I work every other weekend), next good full weekend for me would be 16-18 Oct, and I may already be gone by then. The 17-18 Sept is screwed, that's the weekend of the Air Force Ball (I promised to take April), and 1-2 Oct I need to make a run to Oregon to pick up my '64 galaxie hardtop and make a v-drive parts delivery to north Cal.

I'm finally back home! What a weekend!
John, boy did you out do everybody on those pics!!! Wow my boat does look like it's kickin major booty! Too bad you guys decided to go home yesterday. Moses was in rare form today (smooth as glass everywhere). Tell Ian, Sabrina caught her first fish today, a monster 5 inch large mouth! :D
We had lots of fun (except for the wind), but I would do it all again next week (if I could afford the gas). :p Yes, we have a great group of NW boaters up here and we are finding more all the time. I too am all for doing some boating on this side next year as well. Need I say it again, RIVER!

So I checked end play on the crankshaft, it is between .010"-.012", not bad. I doubt the thrust is hammered. The bearings in the jet are gone. I'm down for the rest of the year, pulling the engine and jet, to get ready for next year. I have got to make progress on the kitchen. We get new garage doors next week, so there goes more cash. I have floors and countertops to finish, and then I can get on the boat again. We had a great time this year, meeting all of the south folks, I have to invite a witch doctor over to chase the demons from my mojo. This was one expensive year for us! We'll have to start the plans for next season, and hammer down some venues. :hammer2: 'Till then, the Cap'tn and crew bids farewell! I'll check in from time to time.....

Nice avatar Malcolm, truly sandbagging or just a good picture??
JetBoy, welcome, and we'll try to pin down a date and location.
The 18th would probably be best for an Alder trip. April wants to get her hair done up for the AF Ball Saturday night, so wouldn't be able to "air it out".
I'm still a little leery about the river, due to the outdrive. Would hate to hang it at speed, but may have to try to make one run with you this year. I did find a 23 pitch prop yesterday for $80, almost new. It's aluminum instead of S/S, so would be easier to repair if I nick it. Still hoping for a 60+ GPS run.
I may take a run up to Mossyrock to check out the campgrounds, and start planning for next year. I need something to keep me going while I'm gone. It sucks having awesome boating weather, and no water or boat.

JETBOY03

09-09-2005, 08:17 PM
Hey now,
We dont need to be giving my dad any more reasons to want me to get smaller tires. Im quite certain he already doesnt like them since he can barely get his OLD butt into my truck as is!haha Id actually like to go bigger  But yes i love the idea of towing the boat and having my dad tow the trailer, for the simple fact that the couch that folds out into a bed sounds way better then sleeping in a tent the keeps caving in on me! Then you throw in the fact that i can be laying in that very same bed while playing video games on the tv, sounds a little more appealing to me even if i have to settle with how tall my truck is now. It was great to meet all of you and your awsome families, and i cant wait to do another run soon! Ian
ps: Malcolm the best part about Sabrina catching that fish is that.... i hate to say it... that 5 inch bass was bigger then only one i caught all weekend!!!! :D

Hope the weather is good for ya'all. If I wasn't working the football game Sunday, I still wouldn't be able to go play, as the bank scheduled a refi apprasial for Tuesday morning, and only gave me a couple of days notice to get ready. Have been going like crazy this week, adn not getting home from work until around 10 pm (14 1/2 hour days). I'll be thinking of ya'all Sunday.

MSN homepage, now it says 66* and overcast, I'm not sure I want to drag the boat down there for sub-70* weather.

Hmmm, Komo upped their forcast to mostly sunny and 69. :D
So how was it down south today, took forever for the clouds to burn off up here?

malcolm is coming down from Monroe and I won't be able to stick our boat in the backyard this afternoon because of Fair parkers in the alley behind our house. I don't know what I'll do with the boat this afternoon, but hey, I'm still in. And you say Nay because of sub-70 weather. COME ON.
The sun is shining through our windows now. I'm still game spite of "sub-70" temps. :D
malcolm, If we could get both trailers in our backyard afterwards you could take Sebrina into the fair. I won't charge you for parking either.

What time should I aim for? Noonish? I'm guessing 2 1/2 hours to get down there, maybe less being early Sunday.
You still out there Austin?

Hi all,
Well it was good to meet all of you even though we had starter issues and had to load it back up. We WILL be ready for next year!!! I have a few things to iron out this winter but it should be a fun ride when we're done. Looking forward to doing some boating and camping with you guys (and girls) next year. Maybe we can get together this winter and make boat noises in the garage or something. Give us a call.

We just made it home. We were all impressed with your boat Creg, can't wait till next season. I took a mess of pics today, I think I'll start a new thread tomorrow and start posting some of them. As far as lakes go, I'm convinced Alder is one of the better ones. The size is just about right and we only had light breezes most of the day. Lots of places to explore also.
