Speaking of cav plate length. What is the rule of thumb for length?

LOOKS GOOD !! One qusetion, how did you determine the width of your cav plates ? they look kinda small for the 22, most of the new 21's are about 13" wide from the back of the transom, plus the 3" under the transom ? Just curious.
Scott.
Scott, I just had a replica made from the ones that were originally on boat. I believe these are 10" from transom. 13.5" Total. Not sure if I should have Gone bigger or not. Mike King didnt say anything about being too small...Unk?

Corleone There is probably nobody at Schiada that could tell you why the plates are 13 inches long im guessing probably the real reason is Billy Dunsmore put them on Suddenly 20 years ago when he ran outboard steering and it seemed to work . Of all the Schiadas that were built for ski racing Mike Kings were by far in a league of there own . If Mikes doin the work it will be right . H29

Right, if Mike King made them that length, they will work.

I have no clue what the lenght of the plates are on my boat. I would guess at least 13-13.5 inches, they stick pretty far out from the transom.

Superdave How long are your Plates?
Oh heck I donno. I can measure then when I get home. They are old skool schiada plates and are not as long as what I see on the new 21's. But I don't have a 21' so I didn't sweat it.
