Speaking in a totally non-objective manner, I would steer you toward one of the boat companies that advertise in HOT BOAT. :)

I'd check out the other threads as mentioned before and come to your own conclusion.
Remember, the feeling you get from a good "price" can wear off REAL quick. If you are price driven also consider a top tier boat with only 50-150 hours. Their are plenty to choose from.

"No Doubt" the best bang for the buck!
I did NOT say the best/sexiest/highest praised boat.....just less expensive smiles per use!

I had a cheetah 23', a few years ago, awsome boat ran like a bat outta hell too.
Bob builds a fine boat, just doesn't rip you off like most of these other builders. His overhead is alot lower than most builders too.
Good Luck the 29 is a great looking ride

I would say that it is not Dan. John West and I gave Dan a test ride in my Ultra 27 Shadow and I would say he is going to build one this winter. He seems to be set on the Ultra 27 Shadow.

Yes, looks like I'm going to do a 27 Shadow, but in all honesty if Cheetah Bob built a cat he would get first shot at my business :D

As stated above, I have one and it has been a great boat for us. The ONLY reason it is for sale is we want to go to a CAT and Cheetah doesn't offer one.
Haven't been on here much lately, but will check in here again later. Ask anything you want to know about it. Where you located? Mine is in Havasu if you need a demo ride :D (I don't believe there is a "demo" boat, part of the low overhead thing already mentioned

It is nice that you would show that loyalty to Cheetah. That is how I feel with Ultra they will always get my business. It is hard to change when you have been treated like family. Do you know what power you will go with when and if you build it?

I really want a GT800, but probably gonna be a 525, I was very impressed with how yours ran on that...
There is no when and if, its on, and if you talk to John tell him the same thing, its on :D

Yeah that would be nice. I am happy you decided on the 27 you will not be disappointed, CONGRATS! I would like to build another one with more power, but the 525 is such a bulletproof setup and it does run hard. If I build another one this winter I will do the 525 again. I might see him this weekend so I will tell him for sure.

cant comment on the build quality of Cheetah but, I can say that I almost bought a used cheetah deck a few years back. The bank wouldnt finance me because good ol Cheetah Bob didnt report to the nada about the current values.
Havent checked lately but that might cause some problems for ya if your looking to get a used one. Just call Bob and tell him to put the beer can down and take care of business. ;)

First thing you learn about Bob, he does NOT play by the boating community guidelines!

It is a fun boat. If you ever want a ride let me know. I am out in Havasu all the time. The new 25-26 Ultra deckboat should be ready by the LA Boat Show. Will be a nice one.

Bob used to build over 2000 boats a year in the early 70s and a few are still around.

That wouold be over 38 boats per week! That explains the dry wall screw shortage of 1974. ;)

I have always like the appearance of the 29CX. I have it on good authority that it is extremely similar (although the exact word was "copied") to the 29' Scarab hull. Rough water anyone?

For we all know if you advertise in H.B. its a good boat? Just read the test reports then ask a owner what he thinks of his Make/Model....That was Non-objective of course....http://www.pic-host.com/Coppermine/albums/userpics/11003/thumb_sssssss.gif

Ouch!
I had a 1993 Cheetah 21. Bought it new in 1994. The gelcoat held up well and it had 2 small stress cracks near the open bow at the corners. Boat had a pretty nice rice for being so small and low.
The problems I had with the boat started with my 2nd trip out and were all related to rigging. PM me if you more info.
Once the rigging bugs were worked out, the boat was fine. Had it for about 10 years.
